Okay I have a sweat problem..HELP

Gillete Clinical Strength anti-perspirant is your friend. I've had my stick for about a week and its like a gift from god. I've had sweaty pits since puberty and it has let up some in the last year or two but I still sweat for no reason and especially when in tense situations. I've tried various crap, about every anti-perpirant on the aisle but none of it has worked until now. The Gillete stuff is almost 10 bucks for a pretty small stick but it works. Its really hard to wash off you hands though. Also I highly recommend shaving your arm pits before using it so you can get it on the problem area and not just coat your arm pit hair.

i always thought using chemicals and blocking the sweat glans is not natural.

Gillette Clinical Strength is your answer. i have the same problem for 3 years, i brought it and it works the first time i put it on , make sure u put it on before bed tho. and shower in the morning. it is kinda hard to get it off because its so strong. but it works really really good trust me

The sweat glands should never be there in the first place because they serve no purpose. I could care less if I seal them off with anti perspirant. If it keeps me dry thats all I care about.

Wow. I love this board. I have had this same problem for years, and have just grinned and beared it, but then today found myself newly annoyed by it as I sweat through a really nice dress shirt of mine, even with a t-shirt underneath. For me, I sweat a bit everywhere even though I'm in shape, but it's especially pronounced in my right armpit for whatever reason. Today, after my subway ride home in a very stuffy car and with a coat and backpack on, applying pressure, there was a huge (probably six inches wide) puddle underneath my right arm, and maybe half an inch underneath my left. I will try all the suggestions listed in this thread.

Not sure if this applies...
But I read once that sweat by itself doesn't have an unpleasant odor. It's the bacteria that the sweat reacts to that causes the odor.
I understand that wetness can be a problem on a shirt and such.
But a guys sweat can have an awfully good aroma if it's just sweat and doesn't have any of the odor caused by bacteria growing on the skin.
So, as far as wetness I guess a good anti-persperiant would be a good idea. And if the odor is present you'd need a deodorant too.
But if a guy is very clean and he sweats.... man that is a most wonderful scent, for me anyway.
The smell of man on a man. :D

It's a combination of factors.

The human body has two types of sweat glands.

There is one type of gland that covers most of the body that produces a watery sweat. This is the sweat that is produced to cool the body. This sweat has less of an natural odor but can pick up an odor as bacteria interact with the sweat over time.

The other type of gland is in areas where there is body hair- primarily the armpits, groin and on the top of the head. This particular type of gland produces an oily type of sweat. It is the oily sweat that tends to have an odor. The odor is both from foods we consume that finds its way into the oily secretions and from the action of the bacteria that interact with the sweat as it accumulates in these areas.

The sweat glands should never be there in the first place because they serve no purpose.

LOL... where did you get this idea? God just screwed up eh... I don't think so. Depending on the type of sweat gland, they have several functions. The most notable is thermoregulation. Take away all of your sweat glands, go outside in 100 degree weather and see how long it takes to overheat. Other functions include pheromone release, and discouraging certain bacterial growth.

I sweat like a 500 pound man in a rain forest and that isn't near enough to keep my body cool. Once I start getting hot I keep on getting hot and I finally have to stop what I'm doing and sit in front of a fan or the AC for a while. For me sweating it worthless because it doesn't get the job done and I sweat buckets. I'll dehydrate long before I ever get cooled by it. I know it contributes and does some cooling but it doesn't cut it for me. Once I get heated like that it can take anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour for me to cool down too. I absolutely can't tolerate humidity. Humidity makes me feel like I'm walking around in the sun with a quilt wrapped around me from head to toe. Imagine having to deal with this every summer. I hate it.

Yes, I have the same problem esp with humidity. Mainly this is because in humidity, water doesn't evaporate like it does in dry climates. The cooling occurs b/c of the evaporation, so if it doesn't evaporate, it doesn't cool. But your body doesn't know this so it continues to sweat in an attempt to cool. I agree, it sucks. And yes, you do have to stay hydrated b/c of it. And I don't have to imagine, I dealt with it every summer for five years haha.

The answer is Botox.

You can put on a topical solution every day or you can get Botox. It is used for hyperhydrosis (excessive sweating) under the arms and on the hands

I have dealt with excessive sweating for 19 years. But mine is on my forehead and there really is no treatment for that. Id gladly switch places with you

Go get Botox

It occured to me that there would probably be something on Youtube. There are many videos about hyperhydrosisi and botox

Dr. Will (who was on Big Brother) treats a guy with underarm sweating. You can fast forward to 2:00 where Will begins treatment

What they don't mention is that underarm botox will run you $500-2000 and the treatments must be repeated every 6-8 months.

They do mention it has to be repeated in 7 months.

As far as I know, the cost is $300-500. (I live in Canada)

The average cost per BOTOX® session in the United States is $350 USD. In Canada, a single injection can cost from $300 to $500 CDN. Areas that require more than a single injection, such as the area beside the eyes where so-called "crow's feet" tend to form, can range from $400 to $900 USD. Larger surface areas such as the forehead can cost as little as $600 and as much as $1300 USD.

Unlike facial botox where they are giving 1-2 injections of Botox to paralyze a muscle, underarm botox targets each individual sweat gland and requires multiple injections.

Typically, the doctor will put corn starch or baby powder on the underarm and then look for sweat ducts (which creates a wet spot on the powdered area). Each gland is injected individually- usually between 10-30 injections in each underarm- which is why the total cost is so high.
