You can't say that the statements are all 'true', they're your opinion. I rather like her, however, I've heard a few things about her that put me off her, but not her music

Thats odd your one of the first people I've ever heard say they like her music but not her as much. If you don't mind me asking what did you hear?

Well, although I don't particularly like people speaking on my behalf, some of what you said is right. She caused a load of trouble in the UK in an interview because her hair wasn't right so she didn't come on.

Plus, a friend of mine heard an interview with her where she allegedly stated that she did not want white people to buy her music. Whether or not this is true, I don't know, but my friend is 100% sure he heard it.

That kind of put me off.

I love her and a lot of her songs, but her music lately has been disappointing me. It seems like she keeps creating albums with the same tired themes, and thus the songs themselves are tired like the topics she sings about.

Aside from how old the lyrical content has become, she's veered from that soul/hip-hop fusion she started out with that drew me to her.

I hope she can get back to her roots soon.

Thanks for getting back to me... Pretty sure the white people thing was Lauren Hill well at least there was a rumor that Lauren said it I can't imagine Mary would have said that even during the worst parts of her past with drugs.... Now the interview thing... yeah that was her.

IMO, she has stepped up her vocals on her live shows. She use to sound really bad at a live show but she sounds really good now.

OMG. she has to be like the best singer ever. He voice is soo soulful, raw and emotional. Whatever she sings I believe her. Her and Aretha have to be the 2 female singer that mean the most to music, and modern vocals.

AMEN. many people don't understand that mary's voice defies traditional singing in it's ability to immitate different sounds and instruments.

Yesss. exactly. Mary modernized music. like Chaka and Aretha did before her. That's why she is the most exalted, respected and celebrated.

This may sound harsh, but Mary, although she's grown as a vocalist in many areas and has experimented with different sounds -- girlfriend needs to go back to school, because it is almost embarrassing listening to her be so inarticulate during television or radio interviews. I understand what she means most of the time, but still... it's like audio dyslexia listening to her.
