Old JUB vs New JUB

I recieved a PM from one of my buddies last night who has been a member of JUB since Aug 2004. He was reminiscing about days of old here at JUB, and was commenting on how much this site has changed. I found myself pondering on how it could be so different.

My question is to JUBBERS that have been here for more than 2 years or so. Do you think JUB has improved or do you think that it is on the decline?

In either case, as a relatively new member I would be interested in hearing your opinions. If you think the site is on the decline what would you like to see, to try and revive the JUB of old, and if you are dissatisfied with the site - what makes you remain here?

The free beer and peanuts Seth dishes out occasionally. Been here over two years, seen it change once or twice but i'm still here and enjoying it - guess i'm just a creature of habit.

well, i honestly liked this site better when it was called LinkMeAllOver, but thats just the old-timer in me...

the old JUB (home page, before certain forums were added, etc) was a lot simpler. everything was either 'Hot Topics' or it was 'Current Events' (for the most part anyway) and it didn't have nearly as many features as it does now

i remember back in the day when there was no such thing as comments. we had to walk 15 miles in the snow just to send a private message saying simply 'hello'.....but i digress

most of the new features are good, and some were novel when they first showed up (rep lost its appeal quickly for a lot), but i still tend to think that a lot of the changes were sortof unnecessary...the homepage as it was when the site first changed owners was a lot simpler and the porn didn't just JUMP right off the screen at you, plus it was easier to keep track of the newest threads (only a couple dozen started each day, max)

a lot of the older members who have left for various reasons in the past i miss dearly, and would rather go back to those times when they still participated, but JUB as it is now isn't nearly as simple as LMAO was, and is much better with active, participating owners

JUB is not as good as it used to be - I blame this entirely upon the whinging, snivelling, lily livered ilk of members who are so emotionally wobbly, self righteous and politically correct that they think that JUB is real life and need protection from anything that may upset them and their sensibilities.

I have been here just barely over two years. I liked the little cartoon guy at the top. I think that I understand why they replaced it and I don't blame them....but I do miss seeing it at the top.

I think that you can still see him as the background on the MySpace JUB site.

It's much harder to come by good free sites in this day and age. They don't make them like they used to and its hard to find the ones that aren't putting viruses and nasty things on member's computers. It's certainly a lot harder to find them now, but we do update the directory every week

The only one I know of that is still free is a picture site juicygoo.com, I think they are "embedded" with the JUB owners, if I'm not mistaken.

I remember how many porn pix in threads there were and how many thousands of pix were in member galleries.

It's a bad thing that those porn perks are gone, but it's a good thing that JUB is still here.

Don't forget about the eye candy galleries at http://justusboys.com/reviews/all_eyecandy.html. We have only had that going for a few months and it already has over 70,000 free porn images in it. We add about 100 new ones every day.

A friend turned me on to all the free porn way back in 2000. In 6 years it has evolved into one of the sharpest gay sites on the web, and one with content you can trust.

JD & Seth are super guys, and will listen to any suggestion or comment, and usually even reply. Try getting that kind of personal service anywhere else.

It's different, sure, lots of new folks come & go over the years, but even cynical 'ol me feels that this is the best place on the web, and will continue to be.

I can only imagine what wonderful changes are to come, and to see how our little boy JUB grows up into a strong, handsome man.

I joined when it was still linkmeallover.ca and of course it was great THEN, and the owner did a fantastic job, but it was right for the site to move on when it did- just look how technology has advanced just in the last few years and enabled like-minded men from around the world to have access to this site.

In my view JD and Seth are to be warmly congratulated for the way they have transformed and continually strive to improve the site.

I don't contribute a great deal it is true, but I enjoy most of the contributions others make, although I do feel especially in more recent times that some threads have been nothing more than slanging matches.

One of its greatest strengths however is that it provides a safe place for those just coming to terms with their sexualkity to ask all those questions we all asked once, without having to feel embarrassed or threatened (I hope).

Two years two months here

the site only seems to have become more diverse in its membership and its forum sellection.

There are seasons of JUB, and they are reliant on all of us and our thread starting abilities and intentions... so JUb is only ever as healthy as our interactions are.

in spite of flare ups, I think that if you observe the site on a month to month basis, it is always growing and maturing.

it still keeps me coming back for more, and i get bored easily... i can't think of a greater compliment to give a business.

that is the true test in the world of the internet.... to attract and draw a regular and large crowd.

it has evolved as laws have evolved governing adult sites, but it has kept its origional spirit and goals.

i say as far as the medium supplied is concerned... the old is as good as the new.

The site itself has been through many changes but the people remain the same. The changes to the site have been good on most parts but I defiantely feel like it was somehow "better" before, when it wasn't such a huge site that it is today. I think though maybe people just get used to thing being a certain way and then when change happens, even on a small scale it can seem like everything is differant, when in fact all remains the same. What the fuckam I on about?!

i have been around since the very beginning, always lurking. I have to commend JB and Seth on a very fine job evolving this site. In addition to some very fine porn, there are usually very interesting threads to choose from. That being said, I am disgusted by the clique factions and the inability of some members to refrain from petty squabbles. Some people just need to shut the fuck up sometimes and realize that some people think differently from you. I know that I have only just started posting, but lately the taking of arguments from one thread to another is childish. I feel this is counter productive to having JUB mature from a pure porn site listing to a vibrant community that fosters an open exchange of ideas and information, which I feel is the owners vision for this site. I have refrained from posting a couple of times lately because I did not want to be any part of the bullshit that was going on, but I decided that my right to be here is as valid as anybody elses and I am not ready to give control over to the few post Nazi's that try to rule this nest.

In closing, Like so many other things in life, it doesnt really matter if I liked the old JUB better than the new JUB. The question is, how are we going to make our JUB expierence something that we enjoy and fosters new members and ideas?

As an L M A O "Link Me All Over" member I have seen many changes and you know how old people are about changes. I just try to get across the street before the don't walk light changes, but change is good most of the time....J U B is still

I've been around JUB for so long my membership card is on a stone tablet.

Yes, there have been changes, some not so good but mostly the changes have made this place even better than it ever was. I have seen people come and go but the basic personality of JUB stays the same. It was and still is a caring community where gay people of any nationality, age, religion, political attitude, and even sexual preference can come and be themselves. They can say things about themselves that unfortunately they don't have the chance to say in real life.

I have seen the members of this site comfort another member during a critical time, advise a member on an issue of great importance to that member, and encourage other members in endeavors they pursue.

JUB is a community, always has been and always will be. Like any community there are good and bad but the good in this site out weigh the bad by such a large proportion that letting the bad sway your opinion is normally not an option.

JD and Seth, along with Sha and Corny and the other admins run an excellent site. There are a lot of gay people that wouldn't know other gays exist if this site wasn't here. The mods also do an excellent job of trying to keep the site running smoothly and efficiently. Theirs is not an easy job and they all spend much of their free time here doing what most of us don't realize is being done.

So, yes, JUB has changed but so has life. Because of JUB those life changes for many, many gay people has been for the better.

I'm reaching the two year mark, and I think its changed, by far the chat room has changed a great deal which is why I no longer go there, it use to be fun but now its just becoming so boring and too cliquish and everyone seems to be in their own group. That even includes the boards too. I've taken my breaks through the months and last year I saw a great change in the boards. I've even deleted my account because things here seemed to change for the worse. But I returned under a different name and a new JUB life.

I'm impressed with the whole change in people's opinions and attacks against Mature Men, Chubs, Daddies, Bears section. As I can see now its changed hardly anyone does stuff like that except for a few that quickly get removed after reported. A year ago it was worse to the point where people would leave JUB because they post their pictures only to get back negative feedback.

Every section on JUB has increased including the newly added sections, the Coming Out section has become a large community where people can express themselves, tell their coming out stories and ask for advice on how to come out to the world. Its been an inspiration reading all the coming out stories that people have posted up on that section.

I've enjoyed being on JUB except for the drama that might circulate throughout the boards, even though I might of been apart of some of that drama I've learned to let it go and go on with things and not be apart of such things like that.

I've made a lot of great friends here and seen a lot of funny things, a lot of offending things. I haven't been here since the beginning of LinkMeAllOver but I can tell you that JUB is changing slowly for better or worse, JD and Seth have done a good job with developing this website.

I'm with Seth on this one.

As you can see I've been around for quite a while. In the beginning a little resistant to the changes but in the end it was all for the better.
I don't always post but do enjoy the many different opinions and views.
