The torch lighting was absolutely amazing, even though the man outran the scroll for a few moments. ;)

I watched it live here on CBC and it will be rerun this evening at 6 PM ET. I'll be watching it again, I'm sure.

It was a great opening ceremony but sometimes less is more!
I watched the show live here in Austria.
For me personelly the greatest moment is when your team enters the stadium, this time I had to be patient because Austria entered the stadium as number 181.

I'll watch it tonight but getting little clips here and there, it looks like it was spectacular!

I enjoyed every minute. It was original and spectacular and at least they managed to keep ugly Chairman Mao out of it.

One small comment:

I wasn't aware that bagpipes were so popular in China.

i missed out the 1st part of the ceremony.
i hope channel 7 repeat the show.

they cut out some for the ad break. ](*,)

We're lucky here in Western Oz as we're in the same time zone as Beijing, so no need for any late, late night or early, early morning TV viewing for me. (!)

Did you refer the bagpipes your hear during the parade? If you could still remember, there were five bands that took turn to play, they represented five continent, of course the bagpipes represented Europe.

We're 12 hours behind. Doesn't really matter. CBC has almost 24-hour coverage anyway.

I heard the others (barely). It's just that the bagpipes were so much more noticeable.

I missed the airing of the ceremony in the US at 6:30 central, it's playing again, however it's around 2am and will be done by 6am!! I can't stay up this late! Does anyone know if they'll show it again in the US?
