so someone sent me some omaha steaks. but the ups guy got lazy or got too busy on that day, i was home waiting. but he coded his delivery as "customer not availible." and that was a friday. ups doesn't operate on weekends, so my package of omaha steaks sat at their warehouse for another two extra days. and i was sulking for this bad customer service.

by the time time, i got the package, it has been 7 days already. i can still eat them, but they don't taste so fresh. then i thought about calling ups or omaha to complain.

so i called omaha customer service, they didn't even ask a lot of questions, they immediately told me that threw away the package. and they will send me another same size package for free. i just checked online, the whole thing probably costs $90.

so sometimes bad things can turn out to be good things, good things can turn out to be bad things.

I agree with swerve. Too many companies would have siad "tough luck" and not done anything.

Now that makes me want to buy some steaks!

I think it is COOL that you shared a GOOD experience with customer service...

THOSE are the companies that we should patronize...

:):):)
I agree !

It's just that Omaha steaks are just not all that good, IMO...

They have an odd taste and texture to them, and still have marks from where the jockey was hitting them...

OK, I'm kidding about that last part. Maybe I've just gotten bad batches or something....

Poor Joshy...

Are you in need of a good piece of meat???

'cause I do have some time-off coming up. ..|

I think it would be very dodgy ordering steaks off the internet. And there is no way I would have eaten the original steaks... I just don't believe there is enough dry ice in the world to keep them fresh under those kinds of shipping conditions.

Sometimes the key is talking to them respectfully, you'd be surprised how many doors you close when you call people cursing and wishing death instead of just explaining your problem (as the author did).

Wait a minute, you don't work for Omaha Steaks do you?

<-- Omaha Native.

I'm so glad you got good customer service from a staple Omaha company.

I'm so terribly sorry you were given such second rate steak as a gift.... While to peope who live in Maine may find "Omaha Steaks" brand steaks to be the pinnacle, please do not judge REAL steak against the shoe leather they pawn over the phone ;)

Come to Omaha and I'll take you to an awesome steak pit with REAL corn fed beef :p

I've had the misfortune of eating Omaha Steaks products a few times.

If they charged 75% LESS, they might be tolerable. They are good, but at $25 or more a pound I can get far better beef locally. Hell, I can get more than beef at that price.

The 'best seller' for $80 is 2 6 oz. Fillet Mignon, 2 11 oz Boneless Strips, 2 8 oz Top Sirloin, and 2 8 oz. Ribeye. Works out to be a little over $19/lb.

All flash frozen and delivered to your door in all of its brick like conveneince. #-o

Steak by mail.

What a great idea.

If only they looked like this....

Well, growing up in Alberta, I have to put in a good word for the local beef. It is the best in the world. And it repels communism!
