Just wanted to UPDATE you guys ...

I came out to another friend of mine, this time via email. She is not the 2nd one that I wanted to come out to but it just felt really appropriate the way the conversation was going. Turned out really well, and she says that she is happy if I am happy! She found herself the man of her dreams (and I am glad since I have seen her go through lots of heartache) and I just hated to not be able to share that I did too ;)

Well, a very belated CONGRATULATIONS!!! You are a brave guy and these are really important steps you are taking in your life.

I'm especially happy to see one of our regular Jubbers come out. And one who offers everyone else around here so much support. Congrats again RicanDAB!

I wanted to share portions of a very nice email exchange that I had recently with a friend of mine from grad school .. she is not the original girl I wanted to come out to, but it just happened to be a good time to approach the subject with her. I only included below relevant paragraphs of the emails and privatized some portions with ** marks, my email is in BLUE and her response is in RED:

Been dating ** guy for a few months now ... yes, you read right - a guy. I am now ready to accept that about myself and I am comfortable letting people know - not to everyone just yet but to certain special people to me, like you for instance. Although we're only dating each other we're taking things very slow and it's actually going very well.

Wow, congratulations!! Isn't it nice to be in love and to have someone speicial in your life? I am so very happy for you that you've met someone whom you enjoy spending your time with. I believe that's the most important thing, ** :-) I'm honored and feel priviledge that you shared the news with me. I'm proud to have you as a friend, and I'm even more proud to have a gay friend as well. Let me explain, I have several gay friends here and they are all very successful, intelligent, stylist and have very good taste in clothes and decoration style (which include you). I'm jealous. :-)

It feels absolutely awesome doesn't it?!!! I'm sooooo proud of you. You really are an inspiration for me as I'm coming out w/ my bisexuality. The feeling of being accepted and loved by friends after coming out is just so amazing. Enjoy it you deserve it so much for your courage.
 
Thanks EVERYONE ABOVE ... I do strive to be an example for others on this board. It is the least I can do to give back.

Reading posts and learning from all of your experiences helped give me confidence and I learned to love myself even more .. and believe it or not, would you believe that I feel even healthier nowadays? Not that I was ever sick, just for some reason I feel emotionally so much better than I used to and my outlook on life is now much less negative in this respect.

I have taken a substantial break from this board in the last few months, but I check in when I can ... I can't forget you guys! (*8*)
