I decided on the spur of the moment today to get my hair cut at a place next to the Barnes and Nobel I usually shop at. The girl who cut my hair was very nice and did a great job. As I went to pay she started to offer me different payment options like by a 25 gift card and get 5 bucks of the hair cut and buy this product and get one free. I just wanted to pay for my hair cut so once we were done I totally forgot the tip and feel awful about it. I am usually a really good tipper and feel like a total jerk right now. I tried to call her and let her know that it was a total mistake but she had already left for the day. What would you guys do? go back and leave a tip(it is not really a close drive) Wait and hope she is there the next time I go there(if I do) Leave a really big tip the next time or just chalk it up and not worry about it?

You should just forget about it, she probably didn't even notice that you didn't give her a tip. If she did, she'll be used to it. Don't fret.
 
I would call and see when she works again. Stop by and leave here a tip. Put it in an envelope or something.

:rolleyes: It's just not expected over at my end. If you gave an employee extra money (as a tip) they would just give you change.

In Africa they basically hold you at gun point until you tip. :wink: I've visited both Egypt and Morocco, they go crazy if you don't tip.

I think good service should be recognized..
Drop in.. and give her your tip... it will make her day..

Salons really push the retail hair care products...big mark up of those products, and she probably get a commission.
 
Does she normally cut your hair? If so, just give her a bigger tip next time you are there and apologize. If not, then don't worry about it.
 
Next time 'tip' her with something special like a gift-card and comment on why you're doing so.
 
here is the best way. you thought she was nice and did a great job right? isnt it kind of hard to actually find a good haircutter you can trust to give you a good cut each time? so it might be worth the drive. how far is this "long" drive you are talking about? apparently it wasnt that long otherwise you wouldnt have gone over there. i think you should call the place, see if she is working, go in there and tip her what you wanted, and she will be impressed that you actually took the time to remember and go back. then you will always have somebody you can trust to do a good job, and she wont ever mind making room for you in her schedule.
 
Definitely make contact with her by phone or drop in, and arrange to drop by with a tip for her.
You liked her work and probably want to go to her again and again, that's an important relationship, you and your hair stylist.

As for anyone saying she probably didn't notice they are not from the US, I am sure that was the first thing she noticed even though she probably made some commission on the products she sold to you, but a tip is a definite if you want to go back and build a lasting relationship with her.
 
My haircut always cost $12. I always give the lady that has been cutting it for the last 10 years $20. Does this sound too little, too much, or just right? The shoppe I have it cut at hasn't ever raised their prices. She always says I give her too much but I tell her their prices are already relatively too low.
 
Mail it to her - much cheaper than the cost of gas, and you can include a nice note. She'll appreciate that.
