  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

OMG this is so disturbing, poor little chicks!

i guess we should also remember that the manufacturer has tested the machinery and the process to make sure the chicks are not hurt....afterall, they want them to grow up big fat and healthy right?? to me, the only thing happening is mental trauma from the movement and noises.

I love chicken!!! I'm easily peta's worst nightmare

The fact that they are very light when they are born makes them seem more fragile. They're not being handled by another a larger human being, not like a baby...they're being handled by giant hands that grabs them and throws them around. Did not you noticed the size of those hands compared to the size of the chicklets?

Ofcourse I know it is how it has always been done now but I don't think it was how they were treated originally before the inventions of mechanicals machinery. How would you know it doesn't hurt? hehehe. Keep in mind that we are not chickens...we don't know how they feel. The clip had a part where the tray of eggs got sucked up and ready for hatching and if you noticed, two eggs were smashed or squished and was left behind to later be thrown. That flaw right there could easily mean that from the hundreds of these chicks hatching that day... there is a possibility that some of them got squished or go their wings broken off..lots of things.

Then again, they said that the eggs stays on top while the smaller chicks slips down through the gaps, what happened to the fatter chicklets that will not fit through! hehehe.

Oh my, I'm overreacting again. :-({|=

Actually it's just physics, your assumption is a common misunderstanding. People often think if a thing is lighter, it must be damaged easier, which is not always the case, and isn't the case with the chicks. They lack overwhelming mass, thus upon impact with a surface, very little force is exerted on they're structure.

Think of it this way. If you take a shoebox, with a brand new pair of boots in it, and toss it against a wall at a fairly decent speed, you're likely to dent the box and damage the wall. Now, instead of a shoebox, use a small box, say that a candy came in, or an eyedropper or something small. Throw that against the wall at the same speed and you're not likely to do much of anything. Same goes for the chicks. It's all in the mass ;).

Whew! I've gotten hungry after all that reading. KFC sounds good right about now...

I appreciate the humor but the way those poor chicks are treated is disgusting, I can't believe those workers that throw them around like a piece of trash are actually able to sleep at night...

It's just not right...

Thinking how demanding we, the humans are, suing each other over everything, standing in lines for an iPhone that costs as much as a worker in Gambia earns in an year... ](*,)

This reminds me of this one time I saved a cute white mouse from being sold for feed to ugly snakes at a terrarium me and the class visited when I was in elementary.

They were selling cute white mice for 50 cents so u can feed the snakes.

I bought one, put it in my bag and then released it in a drain. Poor thing probably got eaten by some big fat rat but I though I was doing the right thing... couldn't bring it home cuz my mom would've freaked out...

They ever so carefully skipped over the part where deformed / dead chicks are disposed of, I see. Never again will I step foot in a hatchery. Ever. Still loves me meat, though.
