Fort Simpson is located at the end of the Mackenzie Highway (NWT Highway 1), at the confluence of the Mackenzie and Liard rivers, 390 miles from Yellowknife.

We get winds like that too. Instead of blowing snow, we get sand and 120 F +

Be thankful you are not at Mount Washington...

Mount Washington is the highest peak in the Northeastern United States at 6,288 ft (1,917 m). It is famous for its dangerously erratic weather, and long held the record for the highest wind gust directly measured at the Earth's surface, 231 mph (372 km/h)

So quit your complaining

it was crazy windy here in Oregon last night, had to climb over a tree branch to get to the mailbox. It's been Spring here since February, usually stays cool and wet until July but all the crops are two weeks early this year. Is it still snowy in NW Territories?

I live five miles from the base of this mountain and today we are supposed to get up to a foot of snow. 3-4 inches on the ground 5 AM.

372 km/h???? Holy crap - u live up there???

Ha no. I don't think anyone lives on that mountain. I could be wrong about that.
There is an observatory up there and people are stationed there. But You would have to have a serious house to survive winds exceeding hurricane force occur an average of 110 days per year. From November to April, these strong winds are likely to occur during two-thirds of the days. Nice...

From my understanding, you are at the focal point of 3 storm fronts. I would imagine weather is very erratic for you. Must make it very interesting.

Later,
