On not being a gamer

I play a lot of games in real life, but the artificiality of the computer has never interested me.

I've been called to be a nerd and shit like that for not being a gamer since primary school, but I've survived and come a long way. I've got tons of gaming friends and we get along more than fine. Meh, it's all god! ;)

I love video games. I prefer consoles over computer/desktop though. All time fave is Metroid truth be told. But I love first person shooters like the Halo games and some fighting games. For some reason I've never been able to get into the RPGs, which is weird because I used to play D&D when I was a wee lad in Junior High. Go fig. Anyhow, I'm seriously thinking of buying a 360 as my own personal Christmas present to myself. Gots to be ready for Halo 3 next year!

Well I'm a gamer and if that turns you off then fine. I really would not want to hook up with a guy who didn't at least like games. I've been playing games ever since I could put a quarter in the machine at the local arcade! I currently own the following systems....

N64, Psone, Ps2, X-box and hopefully someday soon a PS3. 4 days ago I picked up Mortal Kombat: Armageddon and have become addicted to Motor Kombat! Been playing that on X-box live for at least one hour ever night!

Gamers are great ppl to date...we don't stop until we've gotten a high score at anything we play!:-<

I used to be a gamerlamer :[

There's a thread somewhere here about Xboxlive. I'm on xboxlive but I only own an original xbox...not getting a 360. Going to go Wii or PS3....though with the price, you can't go wii wrong with the wii! :D

I enjoy playing games, but neither WK nor anybody else mentioned the "old fashioned" (technologically-challenged) board games and card games which actually involve IN-PERSON human interaction. There are of course real-time competitive games on the internet, but even playing with an "unseen" opponent (where you don't talk in real time, and look each other in the eyes, etc.) doesn't do much for me.

I don't consider computer games to be a waste of time - just a preference - unless one spends ALL their time on computer games to the exclusion of nearly everything else. I would say the same thing of any other activity, though something which involves friendships is never a complete waste. (Too much of ANYTHING is bad - after all, it's even possible to die from drinking far too much water.)

I do enjoy a good spell of Tetris or Whatword, but do even those rarely, as I've just got too much to do. Much better playing Scrabble, pinochle, bridge, Yahtzee, hearts, etc. in person with friends! At least that's my outlook. It's OK to just play solitaire and not much else, Winterknight, regardless of what others may say. You can be cool with it, and even when the teasing, etc. may get you down, you can also know that it's something you enjoy, and you are NOT doing something that hurts other people in any way. (There's ALREADY far too much of that to "go around" these days, especially in politics.)

^If you're going social with actual real people, it has to be Texas Hold 'em poker, complete with hats, over-large cigars, ridiculously off-kilter Southern accents and a handy stash of beer and money.

Of course, I'm more than comfortable with a copy of an Unreal Tournament and my very handy sniper's gun locked and loaded, and I can pretty much clean house at the strategy games too. And any of the Fifa games - I kill at those; on PC instead of console, at any rate. Never been that keen on the consoles, to be honest.

I like watching my man play games. He gets so excited, it's adorable! :D:kiss: (*8*)

I play Magic the Gathering the collectible Card game in real life! None of that magic online stuff! :)

I also play board games with my friends like......

twilight Imperium
Fury of Darcula
Arkham Horror
Cults Across America
UNO
Betrayal at house on the hill
Risk 2210
Risk Godstorm
Risk: Star Wars Clone Wars
etc....

I'm a gamer, sad that you people consider them to be nerds. I have a PS2, Dreamcast

Hey Brandon, those two are the only 2 consoles I have:D
I haven't played any games for ages, but when I do I love the Tekken series, the LOTR games, The Sims, and the big kid in me adores "Kingdom Hearts"

I used to love my Dreamcast - it was the first time I had access to the internet, although it was pretty limited - brings back memories - I was was always playing "South Park Racing" and "Shenmue I & II" (sp?)

Where I may fall in the nerd bracket though, is that I was hooked on "SCRABBLE", probably my all time favourite game.

Oh and dknonfrost I loved "Soul Calibur", can see I am going to have to take a trip down memory lane and dig out the ol' Dreamcast ;)

I loved the Tekken series, I didn't get into it until Tekken 2 was released, I had PlayStation when it first came out, I was hooked on Resident Evil, I became such a huge fan of it that I've been playing all the games except for the first person shooting Resident Evil games. I'm a big fan of Tomb Raider always have, I have the newest one that came out Legends. Silent Hill has been my favorite horror game of all time, the best scares come from that game.

Dreamcast was the first Next Gen console I had, some of my favorite games on Dreamcast were Powerstone 1 and 2, and Sonic Adventure 1 and 2. Who could ever forget Marvel Vs. Capcom 1 and 2. Dreamcast was like the hit Arcade system, but after PS2 and Gamecube came into the picture it pretty much killed it leaving it in the Video Game Console grave yard.

I'm a big fan of The Sims, I'm not too interested in the console versions of The Sims, because they can't compare to the PC version which is four times as better than the console version. I'm not an RPGer thank god because if I was I would be playing all the Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts games. I don't like spending 15 hours on a game sorry.

I'm the biggest video game nerd. Even have classic game roms on my computer followed by the great classic Arcade games (The Simpsons, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter II)

The only game I play online is euchre .... love it!
