No politician will EVER actually relate to the people. Because we will never have a less than Ivy league President again and very few Ivy league grads come from average backgrounds because it cost a lot of money to be smart. So maybe never is a leap but anyone special enough to reach the Ivy leagues from meager beginnings will most likely be smart enough not to be involved in politics.

Finally, Romney had to have created or at minimum maintained jobs while dismantling companies. Signs have to be removed, furniture sold at auctions, assets liquidated, lawyers have to draw up three line pink slips for the employees... all kinds of employment. Just not happy for everyone employment. Of course what is really a win win situation ever? If someone is winning then some other poor SOB is losing something. Ying Yang

I'm just guessing, but I think the 47% figure has something to do with some kind of ratio. All that aside, I resent the fact that Romney has sent so many jobs to China.

I think the religion thing is a big problem for Romney. The Republican Party over the last 30 years has transformed itself into a branch of the Christian fundamentalist movement. Take away the fundies, and there is no Republican base. And the people who most despise and hate Mormons are the Christian fundamentalists.

One of the founding principles of Mormonism is that the King James Bible is a seriously flawed document - so much so that God had to give the "correct" version - The Book of Mormon - to Joseph Smith.

The fundies don't like having their "perfect" book challenged and labeled as seriously flawed.

I think the fundies will have a problem with Mitt. They won't vote for Obama, of course. But they may stay away from the election entirely.

People tend to move away from high cost areas, not towards them. The median household income in the town I live (in 2009) was $92,153 with a median home cost of $599.5k. Again, that cost is why I would rather rent than own a home/condo.

If Romney keeps his mouth shut about almost everything (he seems quite gaffe prone) and let his opponents stumble and we know they will, he could slide his way into the GOP nomination.

I will still look back on Truman as the only modern President without any higher education degree. Politicians are scraping the bottom of the barrel in terms of dignity right next to people who work in Human Relations and just below lawyers. Although lawyers are getting the comeuppance now with the over-saturated market (even in our litigious country) of graduates who think that when they pass the bar, it guarantees them six figures.

I always wondered what was going to eventually happen in that neck of the woods. Very prosperous, very deeply seated business and deep pockets but cost can not expand forever. Eventually the market should stop bearing overpriced items like housing and general services. Plus if you believe the projections a lot of that area will be underwater in the next 100 years or so. It would make sense if money actually believed that for them to start moving more central to the continent.

I seem to have wandered... Romney is the most likely nominee/candidate and he will lose a general. No body on the Right side of the aisle excites the masses.

Mitt is an awkward campaigner because he keeps insisting he's just an average joe - but he keeps bungling into situations that prove he's anything but.

Republicans prefer presidential candidates who aren't well read, well educated, or particularly intelligent. They prefer some folksy white guy with whom you might be willing to have a beer. GWB was able to pull that off (despite his billionaire status) because he really was stupid and uninformed. Mitt Romney keeps trying to portray himself as such a guy - but reality keeps slapping him in the face.

Taxes are too high for you but not for multi millionaires and billionaires.

I am solidly conservative on many issues but this is one where they are out to lunch...ten years of Bush tax cuts has not resulted in shit. The rich are entitled to pay the same taxes I do. Period.

Hell for that matter I am paid out of taxes. So taxing me is simply an unnecessary process. Pay me slightly less and make it tax free. Easy day.
