Earlier in 1988, I had been asked by Hospital Administration (East Orange General, Northern NJ to serve on the committee to help set up our Infectious Disease (read AIDS) unit. It was the 1st unit of it's kind in NJ. I was asked because I was openly & proudly gay, & administration accepted that, & realized I could have a positive impact. We had opened the unit @ the end of summer that year.

With the committee, I attended the 1st ceremony @ the UN in NYC.
