On-Topic: The Case for Community

Merely noting his racial profiling, when he is referencing immigrants.

You talk as though 'racial profiling' is sinful; it is a necessary part of the job for anthropologists, demographers, sociologists, town planners, etc, etc.

Much more divisive, than sinful....
I reckon proper anthropologists, demographers, sociologists, town planners would think it more 'sinful' to ignore the facts, don the PC blinkers and bury their heads in the PC sands.

Interpretation of the data is often a matter of interpreting the facts to suit an agenda driven by prejudices.

But you would know that.

I know no anthropologists etc. proper, or improper to able to test your assertion.

Gentlemen, I've asked for some reports to be reviewed for being on-topic, so don't be surprised if some of the sniping vanishes. Now, please hold it down.

If you think that anthropology, racial profiling, urban planning, or whatever have some substance that is in some way constructive to deciding/determining to what extent community is both important and rationally grounded for human beings, fine -- bring it on. Otherwise, confine those along with thoughts about others to your own mutterings over the keyboard, and let your fingers do on-topic musing.

Kulindahr, the Case for Community isn't just a postprandial, theoretical, philosophical discussion. One cannot ignore the unpleasant realities of all those 'squabbling, hating' human beings you mention in your OP. So one must listen to the facts gathered by the anthropologists, demographers, sociologists etc.

Fine. But there are at least four posts above that do nothing of the sort -- instead, they're the "realities of all those 'squabbling, hating' human beings." Leave the squabbling and hating somewhere else, and bring on the data from actual scholars.

I would like to know Kulindahr, about your academic background. I had a minors in Sociology and Philosophy a major in Political Science some years ago, but I find it hard to understand your approach and that of others. To me it seems to be philosophy, with little connection with the actual world.
