I think I'm doing ok so far. Maybe some of yal could give me tips again on how to move things along a little faster.

Keep in mind that I'm 5'6". I weighed 187 when I started.

Week 1 - Lost 6 - 187 - 6 = 181
Week 2 - Lost 0 - 181 - 0 = 181
Week 3 - Lost 2 - 181 - 2 = 179
Week 4 - Lost 2 - 179 - 2 = 177

what are you doing to lose weight now?

2 pounds a week is really a good and healthy loss. It's hard to tell you what to do extra other than add exercise into a balanced diet plan without knowing what you're doing now.

:grrr::grrr:don't give up!!!! never give up!!!!:grrr::grrr: i want to be big muscle guy, but i never give up[-X[-X[-X even if sometimes i don't want to go into the gym i force myself to, and if i get really lazy and skip well tomorrow i go!!!!!!..| so don't say this is your last attempt. always make an attempt and you will be so proud of yourself when you lose the weight you want to lose!!!!!!!:=D::=D::=D:

It's hard to say how much weight you're losing and how quickly based off of a few scale readings. I know my own weight can change by +/- 5lbs randomly during the day. If I lose water weight, it might change by 10+ lbs in a few days.

Assuming you weigh yourself in the morning or at some consistent time, chances are week 1 was water weight and now you're losing 1-2 lbs per week. That's normal.

Just keep on doing whatever you're doing. If you want to speed it up, keep your diet the same and add in some cardio.

Just a couple of suggestions-
  • Spend less time looking at the number on the scale.
  • Make sure you have goals- as you lose weight, you want to keep your metabolism up so that you don't rebound. And you want to make gains in muscle as you're trimming fat.

I tell people to take measurements of your arms, legs, chest and waist. And if you're not good at mental pictures, then take some pictures of yourself with your shirt off and compare them over time.

We tend to get too focused on the weight- something that will flucuate and doesn't really tell what you're accomplishing. If your goals are to add muscle and lose fat, you will be much more satisfied if you focus on losing fat around your waist while adding muscle to your chest, arms and legs- even if you are not seeing visible results on the scale.

And there's nothing more satisfying than putting on a pair of jeans that were tight, only to discover that they're now loose.

That worked great for me when I started my weight loss last September. I kept a log on my computer with pictures, measurements and the days I worked out. It really kept me motivated to get off the computer and exercise. I posted comparison pictures in my gallery if anyone wants to see what difference 4 months of work can make.

Going on 7 months now and I'm finding it very easy to keep on a balanced diet by being able to see my results.

I'm terrible with math. So no lie I'd be like "6 inches minus 2 is..." and then i'd forget what I was doing. lol I know that my face is smaller...or well thinner I guess. lol But that's all I'm really noticin right now when talking about size and measurements. I also fit into an older pair of jeans so I guess that's good.

I lost another 2 pounds. So I went from 187 to 175 in a month. I do weight myself every day at the same time. Usually when I get up I go to the bathroom and then weigh myself that way I don't have really anything extra in me and I'm in as little clothes as possible w/o being naked lol

I don't really want muscles. I kind of feel like I'd look weird being short with a six pack lol. But I do want to be toned. Mostly I'm aiming for losing the weight and getting what's left over to be toned.

What's an unhealthy weight for me? I'm a 22-year-old who's 5'6". My goal weight was to get to 155-150.

Pretty much what I've been doing is portion control. I still eat whatever I want (mmmmmm tacos) but I just eat less of it. Before I could eat, no lie, at 14 tacos in one sitting. Now if I get something like that to eat I'll only have 1 or 2. Also I only used to eat one meal a day, that's probably why I was so hungry when I did eat! But apparently I heard you need to eat to lose weight because if not your body will think you're starving and store it as fat. So now I have 2 lil meals and a snack, along with my big meal.

I do mostly cardio. Treadmill is cardio right? I do that for a half hour a day. Then I'll do weights for like 10 minutes. And then later on towards the night after work I'll do crunches or something. I can't really do more than that because I have health problems that would make doing anything more than that a lil dangerous.

I haven't weighed myself in a while so it'll be interesting to see what I weigh on Sunday.

Another good thing about this whole process is that I'm a lot calmer and happier. I think all the exercising is burning off a lot of stress. I guess I can be characterized as a bad boy. And the last month I haven't gotten drunk, cursed off an authority figure, or punched someone. So all this exercise is helping me to channel all my anger in a much safer and productive way.
