We settled years ago on a balance: we don't sleep away a good hour of sunlight during the summer, and we don't have children waiting for school buses on the roadside in the dark in winter.

My paternal grandpa once swallowed a catfish bone and needed emergency surgery so I don't think your fear is that irrational.

I am obsessed with Alice in Wonderland both movies and the books. Don’t watch the Disney version with me. I seriously memorized the entire film and could probably act it out for you.

I once had a boyfriend who was like that with Moonstruck. Had the whole thing memorized. I would only agree to watch it with him once.

He was from a Brooklyn/South Shore of Long Island Italian family, and he'd just get this dreamy smile on his face about Moonstruck and say,
"Yes, it really is like that, all the love ..." Those were his people.

Alas, the Brooklyn Italians in Spike Lee's Jungle Fever were also his people. ("Those are my cousins.") He insisted that the only thing that was wrong in that film was that it was completely impossible for any young woman from that community to have a romance or affair with a Black man. (Such an affair is the entire premise of the film.; so is the fact that her community was outraged by it.)
