One Random Fact About You

As part of a promotional scheme for the upcoming Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie, a promotional company installed several signs in random places in several US cities. Bimmr's avatar, in fact, is a picture of one of them. It's the character Ur giving the finger. The signs were fairly small and inconspicuous, but many people recognized the figure and why it was there. I believe they installed these signs in twenty US cities, and in nineteen, nothing happened.

In Boston, someone alerted the police, who alerted the bomb squads. It was felt that these were terrorist devices placed in strategic locations throughout Boston. Streets and bridges were blocked off, and bomb squads went in to dismantle the devices...which, as someone astutely pointed out, were "nothing but Lite Brites".

The earlier paranoia gave way to some finger-pointing. Some folks claimed that the promotional company should be tried under the Patriot Act. Others felt that Boston's finest had over-reacted, and was looking to hide its embarrassment by taking it out on others. The two men in charge of the Boston promotion were at one point held, but I don't know if they were charged.

The date was January 31st, 2007.

OK I do remember that, but did not kow what they looked like. They really had Boston in a jam that day. Thanks.

I am now aware.

Me too, heard about it once, thought it was funny and that's pretty much it.

Boston's finest huh. What a joke they are.

I can't stand cops for the most part.

The cops here tend to be fairly cool. At least the ones I've dealt with. I'll bet there's a fair share of losers in the bunch, though.
