I would need some advice about online dating, and in particular Grindr. I only have little experience at dating, and I think online dating is a bit awkward as you cannot really see what the guy looks like, how he behaves, ....

Consider the following situation : You chat with a guy that seems quite nice and kinda cute given his profile picture. You ask for some other pics, and the guy sends you 2 additional pics, which are not as cute (at least one of them).
Do you still give the guy a chance, and meet for a drink? Or do you just rule him out? I know that photographs can be misleading either way...

Unless he looks like another person or looks totally unappealing, I would meet him for a drink. Everyone takes bad pictures. If he is cuter in person, I would let him know how cute you thought the cute pictures were.
 
I can't speak for everyone, but I wouldn't consider grindr a place to find a boyfriend. Quick fuck for the night? Absolutely.

I know... but it seems everyone is on it. Besides, it is easy and a good way to pass time.

These websites you gave me, they're mainly for the US, right? I'm in France.

^ Take his advice. Not everyone is photogenic. I would meet up with him. I love social settings...love to meet new people and discover their personalities and mannerism (some good, some not so good). It's fun to meet up for a drink. Meet more people in person. It's no big deal if the chemistry is not there. That's how you'll get more dating experience. Learn from this experience and know what other questions you should ask the next guy you meet online.

Pictures on dating sites don't do ANYONE justice. I met a guy that way and went for coffee. He told me right off the bat that I looked way better than my pictures. He's pretty cute, too.

You really DO have to meet everyone in person at least once and give them a chance.

grindr is kinda popular in the bigger cities here, too. and i'd guess in france as well - at least if the iPhone is as much of a gay status symbol there as it is here.

but that fact already tells you what kind of guys you will find there :roll:
