Online push for Bert, Ernie to have gay wedding on 'Sesame Street'

I think it's better to leave them as they are -- people can wonder if they're gay, and the point is that it doesn't matter: they're good friends, and if they're also more, it's their business.

Big Bird is gay enough for the whole show.

Come on, why not have a gay marriage for Statler and Waldorf then?

There have been pre-nuptial irreconcilable differences.

Re: Should Bert and Ernie get married on Sesame Street?

Look, it's real simple.

Bert and Ernie are Muppets, as are Kermit and Miss Piggy. They're both made by the same company and both cater to a mostly child audience.

So Sesame Street's statement that Muppets don't a sexual orientation is bunk.

This is wrong. Just because they were made by the same company, does not mean they are completely the same. I realize Kermit crosses the line between sesame street and muppets, but he's basically the only one. Muppets is not marketed at the same demographic as Sesame Street.

In Sesame Street muppets don't have a sex. Muppets, where a whole family is watching, and laughs can be had from people who understand sexuality, they have it. Simple.

What difference does it make? They're all fictional characters portraying humans.

I don't watch Simpsons or Family Guy nor did I even know they portrayed them as being gay. I don't think they're gay. Like I report in the article, Bert and Ernie are officially just friends and roommates. What I'm saying is, they SHOULD BE gay, or if not Bert and Ernie, at least another character. I believe I make my case for why it's important.

But they do not all portray human characters. Bert and Ernie portray Muppet characters with human-like characteristics. Sesame Street says themselves that the puppets are not supposed to be human.

"What I'm saying is, they SHOULD BE gay,"

And this is exactly why its a bad idea. Because its just the gays saying that Bert and Ernie SHOULD be gay. We're saying that we don't care that they're straight friends, they need to become gay lovers because WE want it. Which would mean... we CHOSE for them to be gay.. so its a choice??????

at least another character

This is the good idea. Go with this one. write an article about that instead of about why Bert and Ernie should be converted.

As long as you're all OK with a different new character being introduced that's gay I think we at least agree 99% which is very much good enough for me.

Start with cameo appearances, work in two occasional human characters -- maybe some handymen who show up from time to time to fix things.

I gotta think Bert and Ernie sometimes sneak into each others' beds to play a quick round of, "i got-yer-dick//no you didn't~ya missed"_____

_______and I bet Ernie's winky is all fuzzy cause it's made of felt and like, thick, fat and uncut, and sorta long with a felt vein and bends to the left at the tip while it swings to and fro when he's headed to the tub with rubber ducky

_______while Bert has an average to skinny, felt, circumcised fuzzy with a smooth plum on the end, cause he don't got no forefelt to cover the tip...

_______and Bert doesn't have an ass/ya ever noticed? The poor thang just has a hole at the bottom of his back......

_______while the Ern man cometh with a nice firm, round, beefy muppet butt.....

You've already missed the obvious. B&E would do well in the fisting forum.

Left: some handsome cutie playing Ernie's left hand,
Middle: Jim Henson (Ernie)
Right : Frank Oz (Bert)
