I've got this p90x workout program and am wanting to start the routine asap. Considering my terrible workout commitment history I thought having an online partner with similar goals could be helpful.

I'm 6'4" 175lbs and looking to shed some excess fat and bulk up a bit. Ultimately I want to gain 10-20lbs in muscle by strictly sticking to the workout and diet plan.

We could communicate regularly about our goals and progress and help motivate each other. If anyone would be interested in something like this feel free to send me a message!

Its mostly resistance training I think but with a little cardio thrown in. For example today is chest and arms, tomorrow is plyometrics, then shoulders and back, then yoga, and so on.

So you can't burn fat while gaining muscle?

The more muscle you gain, the more fat you burn. Muscle burns more calories than fat does. From what I've seen in the commercials P90X looks like it would be pretty good for burning fat, but you can't really build muscle mass without adding weights. Resistance training tones the muscle more than build it.

I also have p90x. I would like to start back up again. I was doing it for awhile but crap happened and I stopped. Did you already start already? I think I will start again this coming monday. I will do doubles though from the get go.

No I haven't started it yet. I don't know if I'm in good enough shape to do doubles right away but was thinking maybe I would run in the evenings or something.

If you're uncertain then just wait on doubles. I have all the time in the world *cough unemployed cough* so I have the time to do doubles. I will do the cardio in the morning and then the regular workouts in the evening.

Eating right is such a big part. Plus eating 'enough' is also a big part; consuming 3000-3500 calories a day is daunting and expensive. I didn't buy beach body's vitamins or recovery drink. I just take the GNC men's multi-vitamin and drink watered down gatorade. Watered down gatorade is probably not a great substitute but oh well.

You should start tomorrow with me. I hope you got all the required equipment too. I get by with a pair of dumbbells that have interchangeable weights, a comfy rubber backing mat from home depot for my yoga mat, a pull up bar in my doorway, and resistance bands that I never use. I'm already flexible so I don't need yoga blocks and I don't have the heart rate monitor since I can figure that out myself by counting my heartbeats in a 15 second window.

Tonight I'm going to have my "last meal" mexican style: chimichanga's w/ carne adobada, spanish rice, refried beans with cheese, and a big fat tequila ridden margarita to wash it all down. Bon Chance seamike:goodluck

heheh I return to work after a lazy and unhealthy 3 day weekend tomorrow so yes I will start but it will suck!

I have the mat, pull up/push up bar that goes in my doorway and resistance bands. I went grocery shopping and got the cheapest sources of protein I could find haha. Also have multi vitamins and protein whey mix.

Sounds like a delicious last meal ;)

Good luck to you too!

Well how was it? My chest is...just......ouch. I hope I can limber up for plyometrics tonight.

I just did the plyo and now am laying on the floor. Was gonna run stairs tonight but I don't think that is physically possible at this point.

Tony is a beast.

Damn you Tony....DAMN YOU! I thought my chest hurt yesterday, but now, OMFG...and my stomach...just as bad. I couldn't sit up when I got up this morning. I had to roll out of bed onto my knees on the floor and then stand up. Plyo was hard at first since my chest was sore but the pain subsided a few minutes in. My quads are a tad sore but I should manage. By the time I got to the gap jump, I was spent. I barely finished. I'm gonna get going and cook me a big spinach omelet now. Here's hoping your body is not as sore as I mike...cheers
