A suspension for a wedgie may sound silly, but it´s the natural consequence for behaving like a silly kid when you are no more a kid ... and testosterone levels are no excuse for that behaviour.

Wedgies are not part of a healthy curriculum.

Students need to learn that there are personal limits to their behavior.

I regret that this happened, but I believe that this kind of behavior is a form of harrasment.

Perhaps the students will learn from this, rather than become even more aggressive from the punishment.

There was a ruckus a couple of years ago over the way a boarding school in Massachusetts dealt with some hazing a kid was subjected to. When he got up the courage to report it, he was essentially told that this was how things had always been done there, and that he should just buck up, be a man and consider himself lucky to have the privilege of being groped and teabagged at such a fine school. Completely reasonable advice, but it led to a lawsuit.

This is what's wrong with America in a nutshell - litigiousness. Everyone has to cover their butt to avoid getting sued over ridiculous stuff. I don't know what we're coming to when we let snotty brats like this wreck all our best school traditions just because their mothers raised them to be such delicate flowers that they can't handle the odd scrotum in the face or finger up the butt.

My senior year in high school they moved the freshman orientation to the day before school started so there would be no hazing.

I think the TAG ban was in case the kids fell over and got hurt and the school got sued by the parents. Suspension for a wedgie? In someways harsh but these days a suspension is regarded as a holiday, we would have been put in detention although not for that, being caught giving a wedgie would have some teacher bawl "STOP THAT NOW MUPPET MINOR" (Muppet in place of name, Minor means you have an elder brother at the school).

I believe I am glad I don't live in the States, too many Lawyers and Analysts / counsellors / therapists. We are getting there but not arrived yet.

I know that giving a wedgie seems kinda a small thing; but when you have a NO bullying/harassment policy, ALL things where you be-little someone is the same as any other item and they have to be stopped.

I know most of us went through worse bullshit than this and nothing was ever said about it to anyone and we got bullied on a daily basis......so when you think about it that away, I think they made the right decision.

Sorry,. but defending the big kids who get their kicks by picking on the little kids just makes you look like a jerk.

In the school I went to, I saw more than once the big guys swarm a smaller kid and not just pull up his underwear (which is humiliating to say the least) but they would pick hi up using it and bounce him around until he cried out in pain.

they would often rip his underwear and on one occasion they hung him up on a hook.

Bradlee, maybe since you're a tall guy, this hadn't occurred to you, but for those of us who are abnormally short, being constantly picked on and thrown about and singled out for comedic torture is demeaning and demoralizing.

Sorry, but I'm glad that Massachesettes has a "No Bullying" policy.

If you don't like it, I'm sure you can move to West Virginia where the people there would LOVE to constantly make fun of a tall, thin, feminine gay man and you'll provide hours of entertainment as they tease you, harrass you and make your life hell for their personal enjoyment.
