Monogamy is a mere misconstuction of polygamy, a deplorable misinvention by a jealous and angry God.

Stopping to confuse human relationships with property rights is a very good idea.
 
Personally, I have only been in monogamous relationships. My opinion of them has changed over time, as I meet more and more successful couples who have open relationships and have been together years or even decades.

There are even couples who have kids and are in open relationships, so the "you're just roommates" thing doesn't seem to apply.

I think it really depends on personality, chemistry, trust, and self-confidence.
