I did, indeed, see it and was equally impressed. I can only hope there will be some sort of reincarnation on her OWN network so we can still feel some sort of engagement with a positive force in this day and age of mindless and immoral reality TV.

Anyone know if you can see it online? I wanted to catch it but had an appointment. Her web-site only has a short clip.

I saw the two shows before but thought they were a little over the top and probably more entertaining in person than on TV. From the short clip I've seen, the actual final show looks much more like something I'd be interested in.

I saw the show. I feel like it changed me a tiny bit.
Like maybe I understand people, myself included, a little better.

So happy her show finally ended!!!!!!!!!!
Been hearing about for 12 months now and I was so confused cuz I thought last year was her last, then the media kept talking about her "last show" so I thought her last show was when the big stars showed up but it just kept going and going and going. I was like stop the fucking show already!

As you can see I'm not a fan of hers, her show as ok to watch at times though gotta admit. Oprah herself I have always thought to be very full of herself. Who the hell starts a magazine and puts herself on the cover EVERY single month? Oh yeah she cited difficulty in scheduling photo shoots with different celebs every month was the reason why she decided to put only her face on the magazine. Good one there!

Felt like one long infomercial. To preachy and didnt feel real to me.

I just watched it! I was very impressed with what she said, it wasn't to "preachy" and the Gaga shout-out was cool!

Oh, fer fuck's sake, people ! It was a talk show !!!

It served several purposes: To promote movies, books and TV shows ; and of course to sell the products of whomever was sponsoring her that day.

I'm thrilled that some folks found "inspiration" from her words of wisdom, (which, btw, come much easier when you've got the money to carpet your 7,000 sq ft condo with cashmere carpeting) But, I think if anything, it was that the show was on for so damned LONG

25 years ! A quarter of a century ! Many stay at home folks raised their families while watching Oprah, and I understand the connection (false as it is) of Oprah "coming into their family rooms" everyday.

But, make no mistake. The show ( like ALL TV shows) existed to sell products.

TO have this woman treated like some messiah that is leaving our plane of existence is ridiculous. She's not going anywhere; she'll be back.

And somehow, between then and now, we'll all have to gather the strength to carry on...

Perhaps Judge Judy can fill the void.

I hear she'll be on until 2013.

Ditto. Ditto. Ditto.

Not to mention that she is also the BIGGEST closet case in history.

She's not straight and has helped cover for many like her....

Except it was not just a talk show. I was talking with a good friend of mine about what this show has meant over the years, and perhaps for many men it might seem that it was only a talk show. For women all over the world, this show empowered women in ways that we can't even begin to understand. The topics she chose to do opened doors for many women to discuss things they had never talked about publicly before. And for many of the men who watched over the years, it gave them an understanding of women and lessons on how to best communicate with the women in their lives, or with their own children.

This woman did not become one of the world's most famous citizens because of just a talk show. She became that famous because of how she used her talk show to touch people's lives. Her message from the first episode was the hope that in some ways her show would help each viewer become the best possible version of himself or herself. If one really watched her over the years, one would see a woman who often pointed out her own flaws and revealed many of her own shames in the name of helping others let go of theirs.

It was more than just a talk show; as she herself said, she tried to use it as a stage and a classroom from which we all could learn if we chose to. While I found myself at times drifting away from watching due to lack of interest in the topic of the day, I could always come back to find another episode that taught me more about the human condition in ways so few talk shows ever have.

No, really, you have a bridge to protect somewhere, right?
