Original "Carly" Is Back On "General Hospital"

It's not a joke nor an internet rumor.

Sarah Joy Brown who portrayed Carly from 1996 to 2001 and won three daytime Emmys in the process will be returning to "General Hospital" although she won't be replacing current Carly, Laura Wright.

In all seriousness, the soap message boards are going berserk with speculation on what's going on.

There are mutliple rumors out there but that is all they are: rumors. Well I've rounded up the best of them, and here they are ...

* Brown will indeed be taking over as Carly

* "Guiding Light" boards are abuzz that Nicole Forster whom has
been portraying Casse for two years now is on her way out.
This would allow current Carly, Laura Wright, to come back
as Cassie.

* Brown will be a re-cast for either Sarah Webber (YAWWWN!!)
or Courtney. But she's dead. :rolleyes:

* Brown will be playing a completely new character tied into
the love story between Nicholas and his dead fiancee Emily.
Perhaps an angel that is trying to hook them up.

Wow, that brings back some memories. I haven't watched the show in years, but I always loved Carly. No one has been able to play Carly as well as Sarah Brown did.

I still remember when she on was V.R. Troopers.
 
That is kinda weird,bringing back the original Carly to play someone else....is she unrelated to the Carly character completely?Laura Wright has really made Carly,as the third incarnation in the role,a more well-rounded,multidimensional character.

It's been done before....Judi Evans has played two unrelated characters in Days of our Lives(White trash mama to Mimi,Bonnie...and Adrienne Johnson,Patch and Jack Devereaux' sister and heroine)Sarah Brown is a great actress who made such an impression in the role of Carly,I'm wondering if it will come off at least at first as somewhat gimmicky?And what are the chances that the long-speculated return of Brenda,hinted by that mysterious burn victim who's last name is Barrett?
 
I suppose that one's possible.

Maurice Benard and Vanessa Marcil exuded so much chemistry together that it was almost pointless for any other couples on the show to even try to be "hot."

Fortunately, Benard and Sarah Brown also worked well together (although NOTHING like Marcil & Benard!!!).

Now, Brown might be coming back to tap into the chemistry with Maurice that HE had with Marcil?

It's just all so freaky and impossible to me. I hope it doesn't happen.

WTF?! okay i loved Sarah as "Carly" but i really can't see her in the role anymore.Laura Wright owns it now!!! also there is NO POSSIBLE WAY she could be the new Brenda--Vanessa Marcil IS Brenda Barrett!!! :cry::cry::cry:
 
NOTHING about "General Hospital" surprises me at this stage, Willsboy.

If they can kill the character of Emily off right in front of our faces, bury her and then promise that the actress will be back in the role after she takes off for pilot season, then ANYTHING is possible.

Although I don't like the idea, my $$$ is on Sarah Joy Brown coming aboard "General Hospital" as NuBrenda :(

I loved Sarah Brown as Carly thats back when I was watching. I haven't really watched it since, except here and there.

the very THOUGHT makes me mad enough to SLAP my mama!!! kidding, but damn that really sux though. guess if it happens it'll be one of those things that make ya go: "What the FUCK?!"
 
I've grown to love Laura Wright as Carly, so I hope she is not leaving. Sarah Joy Brown will be rejoining General Hospital to play the role of Angela Zacharra, Anthony's daughter and Johnny's sister.

Spoilers from Soap Digest:


- Sarah Brown signed a two year deal, with an out after one year
- Sarah Brown's first scenes will air in January 2008
- She is playing Angela Zacharra, Anthony's daughter and Johnny's sister
- Her first scene will be her showing up at Sonny's Coffee shop wanting to talk to Sonny but she gets Jason instead
- She wants to help them take control of her father's territory
- She loves her brother and hates Trevor
- She has a past with Ric
- The mob story will be big during sweeps, and her storyline will be longterm
- She will have lots of scenes with Sonny and Jason

I think it's deep on many levels. It kinda takes the whole game of acting, shakes it up, smacks it up against the wall and then out the door.

Re: Can Maurice Benard tap into the chemistry he had with Brown (as Brenda) in the same way that he did with Marcil (when she was Brenda). It just makes me dizzy thinking about it.

BTW, Wills, glad to see ya finally put your sexy self-pic up in your avatar. There's too many stereotypes that daytime drama fans are old ladies with rollers in their hairs. Hehe. :) I think a large contigency of us soap fans are hot, young guys! :)
