I think that he should have been given 2 statuettes for Best Performance by an Actor.

And while it couldn't match the glorious rendering in the film...the Sinners number was fucking great

 
Something is very different about the times we live today. Televised special events, like awards shows and beauty pageants, have fallen out of favor.
The Academy Awards or Oscars are a holdover from a far earlier time. When televised in the 1950's, the Oscars was an event that had everyone talking.

The Oscars began in a different era as a private dinner award presentation at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood. Maybe it should return to its private setting.

The entertainment landscape has changed so much in my lifetime. It's time to move on . . . but keep the memories!
