Other rock/hard rock/heavy metal fans?

BLACK STROBE - Folsom Prison Blues (Roof Plouf Session)

Not sure if I ever posted it before, but does this song rock anyone else's world? :p

I don't love this band as I used to, but still like quite a handful of their songs.

Anyone else loving the new Iron Maiden album?

Redefining the term “heavy metal warhorses”

Double-albums can be an ambitious folly, especially in this zero-attention-span era, though in the case of the venerable Iron Maiden – whose fanbase is among the most loyal on the planet – they might just get away with the 92-minute running time of their 10th studio outing since 1980. But even if Maiden fans baulk at the endurance levels required by some of the songs here (two of which stretch to 13 and 18 minutes), it’s unlikely that the band themselves will give a toss. Like very few other metal bands, Metallica and possibly Rammstein being the only other examples that come to mind, Maiden are in a position where they can do exactly what they want.

Hence the nebulous concepts as well as the length of the songs on The Book Of Souls, an album packed with the same warfare and fantasy tropes in which primary songwriter Steve Harris has been indulging for three decades and counting. Much has been made of the number of songs co-written or wholly written by the other band-members (singer Bruce Dickinson in particular), but, frankly, you wouldn’t know the difference: with the expected galloping riffs, spiralling solos and wailing vocals, this album sounds much like any other Maiden album from their career-twilight period.

My review was far better.

Re: Metal Music

I like some.. Pantera was a good concert. Also have a couple Deicide CD's but haven't listened to them much lately. Behemoth is pretty good too.

I like little bit of Pantera and Behemoth. Which Deicide albums do you have? I have their self-titled album, Once Upon the Cross.

those are the 2 Deicide cds I have too, although I did listen to Legion a couple times... I remember getting Once upon the Cross but it had a censorship baggie over it so we couldn't see the cover art. I didn't actually figure out what it was til I turned it. :)

Re: Metal Music

I bought this album through iTunes when it came out.

Re: Metal Music

Behemoth, Lamb of god,Meshuggah, Ghost, Death,Motorhead,Dillinger escape plan, Myrkur

Re: Metal Music

Although I'm not limited to heavy metal, I would consider myself a metalhead. I'm big into black metal with Immortal being my favorite, but my favorite band of all time would be ManOwaR.
To give you guys an idea of my taste I'll list bands I've seen in concert below:
Manowar, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden(x2), Agent Steel(x2), Black Sabbath Metallica, Anthrax, Megadeth(x2), Slayer(x2), King Diamond(x4), Emperor, Immortal, Mayhem(x2), 1349(x5), Cannibal Corpse, Broken Hope, Immolation, Suffocation, Origin Danzig, Misfits and others that I can't remember at the moment.
Some concerts I have tickets for:
Venom Inc - January
Abbath (two times) - March
Iron Maiden(will be the third) - April
probably going to Black Sabbath(for second time) in September.

Re: Metal Music

I also like pornogrind, a subgenre of Grindcore, which was influenced by metal.

And goregrind.

Punk rock okay?

Two fave tracks from X's self-titled album.

Los Angeles

Johnny Hit and Run Paulene

Pornogrind is cool as well. Extreme Obscene was supposed to be in Los Angeles this year, but there were issues with finding a venue to host this kind of event.
