Other rock/hard rock/heavy metal fans?

It seems that when it comes to music, gay men are often stereotyped as liking pop music and female singers, which a lot of gay men do, and there's nothing wrong with that, of course, but usually when I tell straight guys what I listen to they're shocked. Anyway, my point is, how many other guys on here are into rock/hard rock/heavy metal? And have you experienced anything similar to what I have? (i.e. straight men being surprised you listen to Metallica or Lamb of God rather than Britney and Madonna). Just interested to see what the response is.

I have a very wide taste about music. That's include some kind of pop, although only some indie groups, some electronic music, and all kinds of rock, but hardcore. I generally listen to classic rock of 60s and 70s, hard rock and some metal.
I don't like that supposed gay music.

My favorite band is AFI, BTW. I'm so excited for Crash Love (the new album, out this year) I can't control myself.

Yeah but thge saddest part is how people keep labeling themselves when it comes to music. But maybe that's just me, I can listen to all of those four you meantioned just fine.

Um....I haven't known ANY that are racist, actually. They're usually some of the coolest, most open-minded, most laid back guys. Not all of them, of course, because when you start to generalize things get messy.

yes, I love heavy metal too. Saw Pantera years ago. Metallica with GNR back in the day. Bought a Deicide cd once, but that was just a little to heavy for me.

its funny cause its quite the opposite for me. since most people don;t peg me as gay when i tell them my fav bands are

Slipknot, System of a Down, Kittie, and others they arent that shocked, but theres this guy at my work that started playing a song, and i asked who it was, and it was Cher, and i didn't knwo any of her stuff.

so he was shocked that i didn't know any Cher, or Janet Jackson, i do like some britney or rihanna here and there though.
