You got it - it was the thrill of being "naughty" - doing something "wrong" -

Would never do it where I had a real chance of being caught - but there was still that thrill of doing something "naughty".

I think that is why growing up so many games always seems to end up with getting naked in front of each other (strip poker, Truth or Dare, "let's go skinny dipping", etc). It was the excitement of being naked and then when you did it with a buddy the thrill of seeing him naked as well!
