I realize I'm way too late to for the discussion, but I just wanted to say that your post sounds amazing! I'm only 22 but I'd love to have been born into that open culture, with no stalls and all that general shyness people have. I keep hearing that YMCA used to feature such open, privacy-less, show-it-all-see-it-all locker rooms, and I wonder if they still do? I continue to sleep naked as I always do in hostels. But I do not exhibit my goods if I am in a mixed dorm in case the girls complain and I get kicked out of the hostel.
If it is men only, I apply lotion on my body in the dorm room after my shower, and only after I finish doing that do I put on my underwear.
The underwear comes off when I go to bed, before I crawl under the sheets.
