OMG Briney Spears Will NEVER EVER compare to Madonna or Cher, Britney Shouldnt even be used in the same sentence as Madonna, What are people thinking, Believe it or not, Madonna Can Actually SING, and she can write big hits, she wrote Lucky Star entirely on her own, it was her first top 5 hit, and its became a madonna Classic! I will personally hunt down and kill anyone who says britney is the next madonna.


Oh, and btw, that costume description made me laugh so hard, haha, good one!

The phrase I often use when I hear Britney held up as an amazing singer - or even an amazing pop singer - is "nous verrons". For you non Francophiles, it means "we shall see". In 1978, it appeared Andy Gibb would become one of the hugest pop stars ever. He had his final top ten hit in early 1980. (That said, I think he was more talented than our Britney ever was.) We need distance - several years, if not a decade or two, before we can look back and accurately assess what is happening today.

Pop in 1978 WAS disco. Or at least disco-laced. Same as Britney now - her songs are "dance-laced".

I THINK I had the Flowing Rivers album, but I think I had to return it because it was scratched up or something. I don't recall listening to it straight through as a kid. I did listen to "(Love Is) Thicker Than Water", "An Everlasting Love" and "(Our Love) Don't Throw It All Away" on 45. The RSO bull spun a lot faster on those.

No comparison because there need not be any. Britney is who she is and Madonna (schlock) is who she is. Face it boys, Madonna had her trials and tribulations. She was out of control. Britney just has the press up her ass all the time (not that she doesn't want that. Madonna, to me, and don't take this personally if you are her fan, takes herself too seriously and comes off as a phony.

Don't worry DarkEmoBoi! Madonna is unique.She is the only queen of the pop.She's been in the music for 25 years, her last album sold 8 million copies, was number one in 29 countries and "the confession tour" is the top-grossing tour by a female artist.
As to the Shitney Spears, her crappy album Blackout failed to be number one .I don' t think she will be a successful 49 years old singer like Madonna.She'll probably die from overdose before 30.

They are compared because when they came out, they were both young blonde girls who used their sexual image to make up for mediocre talent. They both have/had more dance training than singing talent. And, they both sold millions of albums of fluffy pop with little substance based on their image as much as or more than their music.
