Hey everyone!

So recently I read this article on AskMen.com about Sexual Attention Deficit Disorder also known as SADD. Awhile back I had a thread about not being able to ever cum with a guy no matter what we tried and I passed it off with not being completely comfortable with having sex with guys. However, I have now ruled that out and when I came across this article it made me think.

SADD is where guys have become so accustomed to the high levels of visual novelty and stimulation that comes from internet porn that they’re unable to focus on real sex. As a result, they often find it difficult to maintain an erection during intercourse, or they experience delayed ejaculation and can only climax with manual or oral stimulation.

This makes sense to me and while I am not a sex therapist I have all of these problems. I can only get off with another guy when I do it myself. I usually jack off about 2-3 times a day because I am horny all the time and watch porn while doing so. Another interesting point that the article mentions is that people that don't use lube when jacking off and use their dominant hand also add to the problem further because you get used to your own touch (I do this as well). The main purpose of this thread is just to see if anyone has come across this, experienced this, to share thoughts about if this is right for me or in general., and finally if anyone knows how to get over or rid of SADD. Let me know!

Abstain from watching all pornographic images.

Abstain from masturbation. Or, restrain masturbation to twice weekly, using your imagination as the catalyst of your sexual arousal.

Start interacting with other human beings in a much more intimate manner, with the prospect of engaging in sexual relations with people.

You may also wish to seek professional clinical advice on your obsessive, compulsive habits.

… on your obsessive, compulsive habits.

I don't see that at all.

I feel lifegboi001 is describing any sensitive man's reaction to the unavoidable hypersexualised and hyper-enhanced images in the gay world today.

Inevitably the real world fails to compare.

The OP is very clearly describing his own experiences, and not the experiences of the rest of the human race. Each human person responds in his, or her own manner to sexual stimuli.

Obsessive, compulsive habits can be effectively neutralised, transformed into more positive life enhancing behaviour, with appropriate professional guidance. It takes time, and lots of patience.

Not everyone who is exposed to sexual stimuli develops a dependency on masturbation. Most people prefer the intimate company of another human being.

I appreciate that there are people whose sexual life is entirely focused on masturbating to pornographic imagery.

The wider issue of an over sexualised society, and its pervasive effects on the human person is a huge issue for another thread. You may wish to initiate such a thread with your opinions.

This video clip can be of some assistance to those who are living with addiction to Internet pornography:

I believe you miss understand me. I masturbate 2-3 times a day for many reasons which in my opinion do not fall under the catergory of obsessive, compulsive behavior. It is not like I HAVE to masturbate everyday and there are many days when I am at school were I don't because I have much more pressing matters (basically it's not life or death). The main reasons why I masturbate is to relieve sexual tension, to go to sleep easier, or just plain boredom.

The problem isn't that I don't have relationships with people (sexual or nonsexual) but more why I cannot fully enjoy it with a happy ending with the person I am with. I have sex a lot actually with people that I know very well but for some reason they cannot make me finish. I always have to finish myself. This is where the SADD comes into question

You clearly state that you masturbate 2-3 times daily, and that this is a behavioral issue, that you feel obliged to discuss on this forum in search of a remedy.

You are also stating that there are underlying issues, such as boredom, tension that encourage you to masturbate often.

Your high frequency of masturbation might well contribute to your failure to climax when in sexual relations with other people.

I quote your words:

I usually jack off about 2-3 times a day because I am horny all the time and watch porn while doing so.

Abstaining from viewing pornographic imagery, combined with abstaining masturbating 2-3 times daily, should improve your chances of climaxing with your sexual partners.

Obsessive, compulsive focus on such a high frequency of masturbation - alone - using pornographic imagery might well contribute to your concerns at failing to ejaculate when with sexual partners.

The field of psychology has a group of practitioners who are looking to get headlines and promote books. So, every now and then they come up with a sensational name for a phenomenon that we've all known about for years.

There's nothing new about the concept of habituation and conditioning which are fancy words for "If you always do it one way, it becomes harder to do it any other way".

If you continue to masturbate to come but don't work with equal effort toward coming from sex with another person, then you will never break the pattern you're currently in.
