The worst I am is saying "But I'm still hungry" at Old Country Buffet. But my friends tend to outlast me there, anyway. Damn.

Even in my darkest hours of binge-eating, I've never eaten that much...even in the privacy of my home, much less in public and much much less at the age of 13. The kid is still young enough that the blame falls squarely on the parents. Don't buy him that much food and he won't eat that much food.

I sat and watched the kid eat BOTH PICK FIVE'S!
6 Arby's sandwhiches
2 curly fries
4 motzerrella sticks
1 soda that mom got up and refilled no less than four times.

Mom and dad were talking over the paper as their child appeared to be suffering from sleep apnia while in a wakeful state.

To me, that's nothing short or parental abuse.

Maybe I've watched too many episodes of 'Dr. Phil', but in a very real way their son is an addict and the parents are his 'enablers'.

That poor kid is gonna be in for a world of hurt in the near future. Physically and mentally.

Going through puberty overweight will most likely due a number on his self-esteem and confidence, and he's also at great risk for juvenile diabetes and any number of physical ailments.

Sounds like both his parents have cheese sticks for brains.

I have to ask. Are the parents fat also?

Regardless, this didn't just happen recently. The parents have apparently been using food to reward their child or use it to show their love.

I hope some type of intervention takes place before it's too late.

Well said, joshy. That he's still hungry had me thinking diabetes, and God knows what else he is putting himself at risk for.

Maybe he has a tapeworm;)

Sounds more like he has a whole worm FARM!

More like a tapepython

Or maybe that. :p

Or what I see too much of: using food to shut a kid up. ](*,)

Wow, poor kid, how can parents enable...or afford something like that? I hope they learn how to grow this kid a new pancreas soon he's gonna need one

Blame the parents not the kid. He's clearly neglected and the only way to fill that void is with delicious Arby melts.

:(

I feel his pain.

*breaks mirror*

This is a family system who needs serious counseling and perhaps some real life adjustments in order to rescue that boys life. It is not the missing food that makes a 13 year old hungry, it is usually missing love from both parents and the ability to affirm a person.

Has no one here noticed how many JUBbers here have a problem with weight. Food is a comfort item, for something else that is missing big time. You can take that to the bank.

Assigning blame or casting shame on anyone will change nothing. In the same way feeling sorry for the boy or his feeling self-pity will change nothing either. Until someone or all want to change this it is not going to happen.

The food is a symptom of the larger and deeper problems.

Shep+

that's just heart breaking.

i'm with joshy, that is parental abuse.

that kid will wind up sick for sure.

i'll never eat fast food, and they are poisoning their child. they put food additives to make fast food addictive. i think this kid is addicted to the worst kind of food. so sad.

there's no 'think' about it

I was on the mcdonalds breakfast diet for a while, as a schoolkid, I know for a fact that shit is addictive. I don't even have an addictive personality (and believe me, I've dabbled in some things let's say) and I can say I was addicted to fast food. Fucking freaky shit. I don't eat fast food either. God I hope something happens to these horrible corporations before another generation has to eat this shit. Fucking... fuck.

I had Arby's the other night--some strange dude was there filling a sack with condiments and napkins---I had to wait for someone to come up and take my order---the guys still filling sack---I wait for my order to be made----guy still filling that damn sack---I get my order and get my drink---asshole still pushing shit into that sack---I try to go or and get some napkins and of course they are empty----and the idiot has made an enormous puddle of sauces---

Back of topic---that's wack.

When I was a Mickey d's store manager I had a guy come up and order 2 twenty piece nuggets and wanted 40 honey packet to go alone with it---he sat in lobby and ate it all---[-X

My stocks thank you----

Thats disgusting.

A little fast food once in a while is ok, but that amount is just child abuse.

When I started working at the Hospital, we had a night attendant who was a diebetic and so large, when he was admitted to the hospital they had to weigh him on the shipping scale on the loading dock. I went to visit him and they had put two beds together for him.

One evening I saw him go into the local 7Eleven, buy 2 cakes and eat them in his car, of course with a diet coke. He met a nurse who was also obese and together they lost 500 pounds in 2 years. I don't know how much they weighed to start off with but she was over 350 pounds and he had to be 400.

I must say they both look good now, and I am glad they met each other.

This kid however is already in trouble at school I will bet. I am sure he is ridiculed by his peers. His parents need educating, and learn how to love the person they brought into this world.
