Painting your place is a pain in the ass

It's fun to photoshop rooms to decide which colours look nice, but my having to buy a ladder, put up painters tape, move furniture, fill in old dents and sanding is really giving my procrastinating butt a rude awakening.

Anyone paint while drinking wine? Or is that not a good idea?

Ya, I can't imagine what kind of horrific mess would await the next morning after a good bottle of Grey Monk and a paint roller.

And Sixthson, I've never considered an interior decorator, though I've got pretty good judgement in knowing what looks good vs what doesn't, so it'd be wasted money.

That was one of the only Mr. Bean clips I've found funny.

I think it's fun to paint. You're already saving on labour by doing it yourself, so don't try to save on material. Get the best you can find, from the masking tape (that doesn't glue itself to the windows) to the drop sheets, the brushes, rollers and especially the quality of the paint. Before, during and after pictures

I enjoy painting, but I suck at it. It always needs about 9 coats when I do it.

Best way to do it is to get some mates around to help, buy some pizzas and put on decent music while you work and chat. We do that every couple of years at the karate club - works a treat.

I hate painting and have to do a lot of it now to mend some flaky paint jobs before I put my house on the market... Painting sucks, especially in hot summer weather

I kind of enjoy painting. I hate the mess and I royally hate the prep work and cleanup after but the job itself is kind of relaxing. Pull out the boom box, smoke a joint and you're good to go. Don't drink, or at least not too much; your coordination might take a hit.
