First off...let me preface my comments with two things: I love hanging out in PJ's in the privacy of my home, and I was born without the fashion gene....so my comments may be off base.

What's up with everybody wearing PJ's in public? Everytime I go to the grocery store, mall, post office etc there are people (guys and gals) walking around in PJ pants, and sometimes with matching tops. They usually aren't subdued plaids, they're usually tacky cartoon print designs. All I can think is that these people are so lazy thay just roll out of bed, skip the shower, shave, and change, and go about their day.

Personally I draw the line at walking to the mailbox in my PJ's to get the morning paper. Pajamas shouldn't be seen outside the home, unless it's a hospital.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if sleepwear in public is now OK, they forgot to send me the memo.

It didn't used to book to wear pjs in public, but now I guess it is. I see it more anymore myself.....I think it's tacky, but who am I to judge?

It's no worse than people wearing their pants below their ass crack.

Bar Harbor (Mt. Desert), Maine every fall has a Pajama shopping day - generally a Saturday - where prices are also reduced for those shopping in PJs. Kind of friendly after the tourons have left.

doesnt bother me much. I like it when guys do it cuz you sometimes can see their bulge & cock thru them and which direction it hangs. that always makes me happy! :)
women on the other hand, meh, I just look past them.

I will definitely do a double take on someone in pajamas in a second, but I have to admit, I am white trash and have definitely ventured out of the house in my PJ pants before. Like last night when I went on a food run. Plaid pajama pants, Vanz, a Wolverine shirt and a black coat with a fur hood. At least I dressed around the pants and made it cute.

what does this mean? see how your ipad helps you to put your thoughts out there? It was supposed to say, It didn't used to be ok to wear pjs in public........

thanks for not making fun of me.....

Yikes.

I actually considered wearing my lounge wear out in public for the first time ever a couple nights ago.... So glad I opted against, as I'd be feeling really ashamed right about now.

I agree that it is tacky and lazy and all that bad stuff , but what can I say? It was late, and I figured no one would notice or if they did notice, they wouldn't care--because who goes shopping that late at night in the first place?

Ugh. I'm so sorry. It was just a momentary lapse of judgement and I promise to do better in the future. I swear!

Thank god for the fashion police. Forever vigilant, and always uncompromising.

Where would I be without you. *Muah*

Can someone translate this please???

[Edit - Oops. Never mind. Should have read farther down before posting!]

I'd rather see a nice looking man in pajama pants than a heavy set woman in peach colored stretch pants.

I think pajama pants have taken the place of sweat pants and generally look better.

While I would never wear my PJs/Lounge Wear out to a store or anything, I have no problem wearing them outside around my home, in my yard.

I usually sleep in my drawers, so I definitely don't go outside in my PJs.

But one of the secretaries in my department regularly comes to work in pajama pants, which I think is completely unprofessional. (Of course, that's just one of many unprofessional behaviors that she exhibits. I honestly don't know how she's managed to keep this job for so long.)

…pajama pants, which I think is completely unprofessional.…

Rightly so! I'd be complaining if those pajamas looked unhygienic or displayed the pudenda.

My country had a strict code for government staff officers; they were forbidden from exposing the thigh, shoulders or mid-riff.

I dont see what the big deal is all about. WHo really gives a fuck? If you have to be in a shirt and tails to leave the house then that's your hangup not the rest of society.

I dont give to flying fucks what anyone thinks of me to be honest. I go to the store or about my business after having woken up without a shave or a comb. Typically it is to take the dog to the dog park and then grab some coffee maybe occasionally the drug store or the supermarket.

On the other hand I can go out in a suit given my mood. I just dont see that it matters. Not too many folks I care to impress.

They cover everything, and they look clean, but they still don't give a very good first impression of the department. And given that she's the first person you see when you walk into the department office, she really ought to put a bit more effort into her appearance. If she wants to dress like that on her day off, that's her business, but I don't think it's appropriate for someone in her position to wear at work.

I didn't use to like the idea of pyjamas in public, but these are excellent points.

Someone posted an article on failblog (I can look it up if you really must see it here) about the Dollar Store. A woman commented on how glad she was to see it open. Because you didn't have to get dressed up to go there as opposed to Walmart. I don't know if it's on topic, but that remark has really stuck with me.

:badgrin:Pajamas, either in public or private, to me is a total turn-off. Cum on guys, show your stuff with something more revealing and enticing and forget pajamas. Can't believe anyone still wears them.

Ugh. Not only the pajamas' designs are often terrible, it gives the impression of:
1). You're too lazy to get yourself upright after waking up and before going out.
2). You're too lazy to actually get up and perhaps you're sleepwalking.
3). You have a detached childhood syndrome and maybe you have a mental development likewise a stillborn child.
4). You are really that poor OR stingy that you want to reserve water and electricity by using clothes as less frequent as possible.

I don't urge people to have a good fashion sense (because I'm bad at that) but at least they can show their best persona and decency by (trying to) dressing well.
