Pajamas in public

I'll wear sweatpants if it's early morning or late night and the dog needs to go out but besides that, I wouldn't dare.

First off...let me preface my comments with two things: I love hanging out in PJ's in the privacy of my home, and I was born without the fashion gene....so my comments may be off base.

What's up with everybody wearing PJ's in public? Everytime I go to the grocery store, mall, post office etc there are people (guys and gals) walking around in PJ pants, and sometimes with matching tops. They usually aren't subdued plaids, they're usually tacky cartoon print designs. All I can think is that these people are so lazy thay just roll out of bed, skip the shower, shave, and change, and go about their day.

Personally I draw the line at walking to the mailbox in my PJ's to get the morning paper. Pajamas shouldn't be seen outside the home, unless it's a hospital.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if sleepwear in public is now OK, they forgot to send me the memo.

ya robot?

Oh my... I can't believe my eyes...

LOL - looks like he's from one of those religious cults that end with a mass suicide.

I understand if someone is in for the night and realises they're out of milk or bread and does a runner to the QuikShop attached to the local petrol station in their PJs. Actual shopping or spending more than like 2 minutes in public - man, get dressed.

But what's the problem with sweatpants? Quite common wear around darkest Africa, those...

-d-

I'll wear pajamas to the supermarket or where ever if it's a quick drive and i'll be home soon. If I'm meeting with someone else, then I'll dress up.

I sleep in my underwear but wear pj pants around the house in the evening after a shower or the morning if I'm not going anywhere. I haven't worn them out in public but don't see how it is any worse than sweat pants and like jensu846 said you can see some nice bulges in the pjs. It seems like it is mostly in the grocery stores where I see them.

One day a couple of years ago, I was in such a hurry to get dressed for TAFE, that I forgot to put on my shoes and went in my slippers!

Actually, I'm loving the new PJs in Public movement. It's not that new; it was nearly a decade ago that US High Schools were having a flap about kids coming to school in them.

Fashion evolves, obviously - Otherwise you'd never see women in pants and we'd still be wearing codpieces.

Surely, if it hasn't happened already, one will soon see trendy re-designs & a stylish set on a runway model.

Of course they're unprofessional business attire, hence the controversy of "casual fridays," but then again, it depends on the business - a friend of mine owns a nightclub and dj's, and he's never out of them.

Funny, this - some of my regular customers at the nursery just came in, and their son was wearing Stewie PJs - or was it Cartman?

To each his own.............................................................................

I've been on this planet long enough to have learned what is, and what's not, important. And, one of those things that does matter is my own comfort.

So, yeah, sometimes when I've felt like it, I've gone out "in public", and about my own business, in my sweats and mocs (no socks). I don't own (official) PJs.

I really could care less what others might think. I'm out to run my errands, not impress anyone. As long as I'm "sufficiently covered", they are free to ignore me as much as I ignore them.

Keep smilin'!!(*8*)
Chaz :D

i see it a lot too, especially on campus. and if i am comfortable and find i have to go to the store, i usually dont have a problem with it, but i usually wear sweatpants or gym shorts anyway.

i dont really see too much problem with it as long as the pajama bottoms are clean, and i either a) cant see through them b) nothing is exposed or c) both of the above

I will say, it is tends to be the heftier people that wear sweats out for "comfort" aka, they can't fit into jeans well.

…I don't see the big deal.
some of my mates in high school discussed their 'morning woods' and how their mother sewed up their pyjama pants fly so she wouldn't be seeing 'their big deal' at the breakfast table:-)

Pjs in public are disgusting. I have very strong feelings about this.

Sweatpants are my pyjamas. The only time I wear them outside the house is for yard work. For errands I often wear my "gay" pants.
