"Nose cutting" as a punishment for infidelity is much older than Islam (it was in my historical novel about Xerxes). Nonetheless, it's not an accident this happened there instead of in Belgium.

We're arguing about quantity of peace activism in ME. You've claimed it's enormous, I doubt it (because I've spent a year in the ME, met many people and haven't heard of, and haven't met, any of these kind. I did meet a lebaneese gay rights worker and peace activist once, but this is another matter. You didn't give me any proof that peace activism is as spread as you claim.

If You've said "there are peace activists in ME", I wouldn't have minded it. But, to fight one extremism (claiming that all or most muslims/Arabs/Iranians/whoever are blood-thirsty bastards) you go to another extreme, presenting it as if there was a giant underground peace movement across ME, which is also not the case.
I appeal for being reasonable to both sides, but mostly yours, because, as suprised as you may be, I find your side more appealing, and therefore I wish to strip it of the exagerration that's harming it.
