PalacePaul Appreciation Thread

Good evening John and Andrew (*8*)
I live in the Mediterranean area, in the NE of Spain, 50 km from the sea. But still we can have some very cold temperatures, like we're having these days. I have my plants out in a balcony which has a roof and a side wall, so they're not completely exposed. But very often I just try something and see what happens...

Are you Catalan yourself?

(Come to think of it, did I ever hear you in a concert on Catalunya Musica?)

Amazing o_O
Yes, I am Catalan, and I was interviewed once in Catalunya Música, but they didn't record the concert. How could you know?

How could I know what?

That you're Catalan? Northeastern Spain 50 km from the sea is Catalonia.

About Catalunya Música? I like to listen to concerts on European radio stations of music that doesn't get broadcast over here often enough.

I've always found entertaining the little opening to concert broadcasts on that station:
An intense note on a violin moves into a flashy cadenza, and just as the violinist is getting to the end of the cadenza, a woman's voice intones,
"A Catalunya Música, comença ..." -- dramatic pause -- "un concert!" as the orchestra makes its thundering entrance.
😁

Which instrument(s) do you play, anyway?

I haven't listened to CatMúsica in a long time
I'm an organist, by the way.

Today I did my usual Saturday routine. Had a good breakfast (as always) and went to the swimming pool (where I saw some hot bodies). Later I went to see a funny event where kids build their own robots and compete among them (a friend of mine was teaching one of the kids' teams). After that I had lunch with my parents.

I hope everyone had a good day (*8*)

Sounds like a very good day!

You're an organist? Cool! Who are your favorite composers to play?
And do you play much music by the old Spanish composers (Cabezón, Correa de Arauxo, Cabanilles, etc.)?

Good evening Andrew and LMP

No, I don't play the old masters very much. I prefer music from 19th and 20th century. I specially like the works of Franck.

How do you feel about Messiaen?

Oh, and have you ever heard Voices, Philip Glass's suite for organ and didgeridoo?

My first boyfriend played organ, and in the university music library he introduced me to recordings of some wonderfully raucous historic Spanish organs. There was one with a trompeta stop that sounded like a tuned buzz saw. 🤓

Good Thursday morning, Paul! (*8*)

I hope you're playing the music you like, for only the people you want to be playing for, and you're having a good week!

Good evening LMP, Christian and John.

Messiaen is very interesting, I like his early works, particularly L'Ascension.
Thank you Christian, it's going well even though not as good as your gif ;)
Thank you John, this week I've only practiced alone and that's when I enjoy music the most.

I wish you have a great weekend (*8*)

Good Monday afternoon, Paul! (*8*)

I hope you get plenty of time to practice alone and enjoy your music, and that your weather is warming up for your plants.

Good evening RM, Christian and John. I hope you had a good day (*8*)

Today I was too lazy to practice but I'm doing it tomorrow.
This afternoon I visited an old friend, a crazy old lady who lives with 3 inmigrants and 3 enormous dogs
After that I had an appointment with my doctor regarding my next blood test.

Thank you John. The weather is a bit warmer today. We might have rain again this week.
Christian that gif with the dick pointing at letters has me intrigued...
