PalacePaul Appreciation Thread

Apart from music (which I do as a job) I like ancient history (specially Roman), walking in nature, swimming... Lately I like gardening very much too.
How about you?
Very cool!! I love history (American colonialism, American Revolution and American Civil War, American Civil Rights Movement, Ancient Rome and Greece, WW1 and WW2, European powers of the 13-17th centuries (Spain, France, England)), live theatre, walking, reading and writing, movies, television and music, ahopping, traveling, and men hehe!!

Very cool that music is your job!!

Oh yes, I forgot looking at men

I'm happy many of us shared our childhood experience in Michael's thread.
Here's another one I just remembered: my other grandma used to do her laundry by hand and I loved helping her. I loved playing with the cold water! Maybe this was my watersports awakening...

Good Saturday afternoon, Paul! (*8*) :therethere:

I hope you're having a great weekend, and that you're playing only at venues you like and not any stuffy weddings and such. And more lessons with young girls and fewer lessons with the old ladies.

Good afternoon John (*8*)
Thank you for the good wishes ;) it's all part of the job. Yesterday I played at a memorial service for some wealthy people, it was poorly planned and executed. This confirms once more my theory that the more money they have, the worse

Did you at least get to play anything you liked?

Hi Paul! (Forgot if I mentioned you have a great name!)

Hope your weekend is (!) --%-- :gogirl: (!w!) !!!

Yes! We got to choose the pieces (there was a singer, too)
And the place was very beautiful, so it wasn't all bad.

And what did you choose?
And given complete freedom to select what you want to play (meaning no worries about length, for instance), what would choose to play for a memorial?

I played a short prelude by Scheidemann. Together we played Preghiera by Tosti, Ave verum by Jenkins and Jesus bleibet meine Freude by Bach.

If I had complete freedom I would keep the Scheidemann and play something like Bruna's Tiento de falsas de segundo tono and Bach's In dich hab ich gehoffet, Herr.
Or improvise the whole thing and don't care about the choices.

Hola Paul , gracias por escribirme

Espero descanses bien y tengas un Lunes agradable :band:

I'm happily surprised! I thought you said you didn't care much for the old masters ...

I've just been listening to a few YouTube recordings of Bruna's Tiento de falsas de segundo tono. There are huge variations in tempo: the timings range from 3½ minutes to 7½ minutes. Very different effects, obviously.

My favorite, I think, took over 6 minutes, and yes, that would work very well at a memorial service.

Good evening Frankie, LMP and Christian. I hope you have a good day (*8*)

It's not that "I don't care" about the old masters. Ancient music isn't my favorite style but some pieces are wonderful and/or they are an excellent choice sometimes.

Going to bed soon ;)

Thank you John! Everything is fine at the moment.
Today both of my parents had a cold so I alone visited my sister. We had a pleasant walk together.
As you know I love gardening. I check my plants everyday. I have 2 lilies growing, they'll bloom in a few days

Hola Paul , tambien espero que tengas una buena noche y que el dia Jueves sea agradable para ti
