I believe it depends on the language level as well; and I have no idea what level an SAT test includes.

Here’s the breakdown of her standardized test score: 425 verbal, 416 math.
Palin’s high school grades read: English = B, Math = C, Foreign Language = D, Biological Sciences = B, Physical Sciences = C and Social Studies = C.


The test dates back to 1986 by the way, and it's not confirmed to be real.

I am one of those who does not pay a lot of attention to standardized tests (since I don't do well on them). But I did do well in high school to offset my SAT scores (which were better than Palin's). She did poorly in both, which means she is probably of below average intelligence. Three C's and a D and the highest grade is a B are pretty horrible grades for a high school junior or senior.

she should at least get mostly As and Bs in High School to be acceptable for leading the country.

She barely cracked 800. That's pathetic.

Yes, Bush got into Yale but he did so at a time when "legacy" didn't just count for a few admission points (as it does today) but damn near got you right in the front door! He also had more than one family member on the Board of Trustees at Yale so there was no way he wasn't getting in. But he certainly didn't earn it, judging by his SAT scores, his grades in high school, and even his eventual grades at Yale were dismal.

Actually Bush did well on his SAT's and while he was not a stellar student at Yale or Harvard he did graduate. Palin could never have gotten close to an ivy league school even if her mother was on the board of trustees and her father coached the football team.

Its not really a question of what average Americans score. We expect our leaders to be better than average. Our sports stars are professionals because they are better than average. Our business leaders are generally either smarter or more creative than average.

I saw something quite interesting last night on CNN. Two conservative republican women, one the daughter of a prominent former GOP senator who was one of Reagan's closest friends, completely trashed McCain for choosing Palin. They were insulted because it implied Palin was the best republican woman and it made them all look bad. I am sure there is a youtube clip of it. One of the ladies was named Laxalt.

Bush scored 566 verbal and 640 math, which did not put him at Yale's avg but he was in the ballpark. So no doubt Pappa Bush helped. But if 1206 is in the ballpark, 841 is not even in the same sport.

you have to atleast be in the high 1400's on the two main ones to be a contenter for any ivy league these days, don't know about bush's days, but i doubt it would have been that lax to let a 1200's student in. they don't really "count" the third one yet, the writing part, but it's taken into consideration... basically one must score fairly well ~ high 600 - perfect.
