Palin's SAT test

If all of that is real then damn she is not too bright

Wow... wow... wow.... that's like... wow..... Is she admitting that's authentic because that's embarrassing?

As for Bush he did decent. That's all 1200s really are. They're not great. They're in the good area. That's not really that impressive. The SATs really aren't a difficult test if you're trained to take it right and I'm sure he was. If he wasn't who he was he wouldn't be anywhere on the radar of any ivy.

Nik2,

Don't fret about being snobby for attending Yale - I went to Harvard and before that a comfy boarding school built on a golf course. Truly, some of the best years of my life. My SAT score was in Bush's range, but here is how the average manages to be much higher. I had three roommates my third year and each had a perfect score with 4.0's. But they came from regular backgrounds and regular high schools and basically "graded" in. My background is anything but normal and I got to that comfy boarding school from some pretty tough circumstances. Harvard must have believed I could add something to the community despite my pedestrian score. One of my younger brothers, otoh, got into Williams on grades. I didn't add much as it turned out because I came out and went crazy for boys, but it was nice that my name was the answer to a crossword puzzle clue my second year.

When I took the test (in the mid 80s) scores would only be multiple of 10 (1300, 1310, 1320) so you couldn't get a 565 or 723 or 482 so these are unlikely to be real. Not sure if it is still that way. I think think she really could have been in this ballpark though.

shouldn't this be in the political thread? what does anyone's SAT scores have to do with celebrities?

Don't be fooled. Sarah Palin is far closer to being a celebrity than to being an acutal politician.

Um, you can't be an idiot and get into Harvard Law and then made editor of their law review. You just can't. I'm in law school, trust me. This point is unassailable. You also have to have -- and listen closely now -- A HIGH GPA -- to graduate magna cum laude. There's no affirmative action principle at work there.

And if you truly don't think the man is an intellectual after hearing him speak or reading his books, then I don't know what to tell you.

While his credentials and actions at Harvard make it clear that Obama is a very intelligent man who made his way through but.... (and I don't know the stastic off the top of my head because I know you'll pounce) 90some percent of Harvard grads get some form of Greek Honors. Considering it's so incredibly difficult to get in in the first place I'm really not trying to dimish their accomplishments but I just know because our administration likes to make themselves feel better for their lack of selectivity by making it so fucking hard to get honors here while mentioning in a passive agressive manner how much less harsh they are with grading in certain other schools.

A high IQ (or GPA for that matter) doesn't necessarily equate to good governance, does it?

My thoughts exactly. Time to put an end to this ridiculous thread (if there's even any truth to it).
