Pancakes!!!

So it's Pancake Day (Shrove Tuesday) in the UK, and that basically means tonight we all get to stuff our faces with pancakes

So what are your favourite toppings? And do you have any outlandish suggestions for things I should try tonight on my pancakes? I generally stick to lemon and sugar and nutella, but figure this year I might try something a bit odd again (last year I replaced the lemon with limoncello, with delicious results)

I like eggs with my pancakes...over easy with runny yolks.

Otherwise, butter and maple syrup. I prefer buttermilk pancakes.

Oh crap, that's right... Shrove Tuesday. Well, I've already bought my food and it's not pancakes. Ah well...

I am a fan of pancakes. A pancake with one or two slices of ham, two or three onion rings and a fried egg are hmmmmmgood. Also favourites are the standard with cheese or bits of bacon. And of course syrupy ones. But I have also treated pancakes as a way to eat leftovers. Practically everything has at some point gone into them, not always to satisfying result.

I'm pretty traditional as well--LOTS of butter and maple syrup, but you could try a southwest treat--prickly pear cactus syrup and pecans.

I like them with (brown) sugar or jam.

Had 2 Nutella, 1 with maple syrup, 1 with lemon and sugar and 2 with limoncello and sugar.

Couldnt b assed with fancy toppings, though yours all sounded nice too!

I'm a sucker for chocolate chocolate-chip pancakes with whip cream, and depending on how I feel, either regular syrup, or strawberry-flavored.

We made two types of pancakes tonight, a sweet one, and a savoury one.

For the sweet one, I put sliced bananas, toasted walnuts and maple syrup, with icecream out of the fridge. Rolled it up, and it was ready to go, scrummy.

The savoury ones had spring onions (scallions) finely chopped but mixed into the batter. They were eaten plain, as is, but quite nice.

Yes, it is Pancake Day!!!! I've been busy, so I haven't had a chance to post...

The race between Liberal, KS and Olney, England is over. I couldn't attend, so I don't know who won the big race.

I went to the early morning festivities and had blueberry and pecan pancakes (my two favorite add-ins). Fortunately, there was sugar-free syrup!

I thinking waffles for dinner...

Pancakes with butter and maple syrup are always a great meal, whether it is for breakfast or dinner!

During this time of year, I also love to make potato pancakes....

When I was living with Dave, I would sometimes replicate the International House of Pancakes experience by opening a can of fruit pie filling (apple, peach, or cherry taste best to me), warming it up, and putting it over our pancakes instead of syrup. I also used canned whipped cream to garnish.....

I had 3. One with strawberry jam, two with peanut butter and strawberry jam. All three with honey drizzled over them.

Marvellous.

Must make sure I have them again late in the week just to confirm my heathen credentials.

I've seen a lot of people having quite savoury toppings on their pancakes? Mine have always only been sweet!
