And yes I agree. I loved the first movie but I smell a dud here using marketing trickery to cover the odor.
 
Doesn't look any different than the 1st...

PA1 was alright. Not horrible, not incredible. And it looks like they're using the same approach here and hardly deceiving anyone; so I don't get why you'd be upset about it.

If the marketing strategy ain't broke, don't fix it.

Welcome to the world of marketing. The only scary part is that there are many people who fall for these tactics.

My partner and I saw the original. I wasn't expecting much from the beginning, and I was still let down by the film!

When it came out on DVD I had to laugh at their ploy of adding a new ending that was "too scary to show in theaters". Needless to say, we didn't purchase the DVD. We will not waste time watching this reshit.
 
I didn't really find the first one scary, just creepy in certain parts.
I liked it though for the same reason I liked Blair Witch. Scary movies are so generic these days and at least these movies have a realistic feel to them.

What is so realistic about a demon needing to live in an attic or leaving footprints. Demons would be supernatural beings, not physical creatures, and would therefore not be bound by physical limitations.

That's not how it went. The DVD ending was the same as the theatrical version. The DVD included bonus material that was 1 of the 2 alternate endings, which most everyone had already seen on YouTube when PA was still in theaters. It was not something new made for the DVD. I don't recall them saying "it was too scary to show in theaters." Actually Steven Spielberg preferred the theatrical ending, which is why that is one they made official. DVDs including alternate endings is not a new concept. Directors often film alternate endings before deciding which one to use.
 
PA1 was awful.

I had a few chills early on, and then found myself more interested in their floors than what was happening to the people. Halfway through I started rooting for the ghost (or whatever). The leads were so irritating I wanted them to die.
 
This thread title made me :lol:

I have never left a movie more pissed off in my life when I saw PA1. It might have been a teeny bit scary for about 5 seconds, but that's it.

I definitely won't be preordering tickets for this one...

because when i saw the first one i was appauled it was that cheap and expecting a lot more when i saw how scared those people where inthe movie theatres lol...i wont be qatching this crap....i just dont like being deceived like this...
whats absurd ids that they hav been announcing it over the radio here ......its been pulled from the movie theartres itssssss soiooooo scaryyy and i saw the clip and i was like .....cracking up lol

"Scary" movies are just that ... MOVIES! Enhanced, edited, PRODUCED, stories ... mainly FICTION! Yeah! Even if they LOOK like a "Documentary", chances are they're merely Stories, purposefully designed to Scare/entertain you! They're "massaged" to get a reaction! #-o

However, should you encounter the "Real" thing, as I have, then THAT'S truly Scary! :eek: :help:

I was actually pretty scared by the first one. It took me a few days to sleep without hiding under the covers (leaving a hole to breathe, of course, haha). The introduction of dog and child in the new one is an interesting idea to me. Previous to the first one, The Strangers has been one of the better "scary" movies I've seen over the past few years.

how and when did you encounter the real thing please share
 
PA1 is ok. I don't usually watch horror flicks because of gores and stuff like that;bore me to death. PA1 got my attention cuz it diverge from same old direction. So I ended up renting it from BB and watched it through the end. To me, I don't find it scary at all(What so scary about moving things!). However, I find it interesting and wanted to know how it would end.

As for PA2, I'd wait till the reviews come out. If it is not much different from the first one, I'd pass.

Talk about horror flicks, my all time fav is THE OTHERS. Direction is so refreshing and plot is superb.

I told everyone I knew I could not sleep for "Two weeks and some change" that movie blew my mind even if I think about some of the scenes to this day I cannot sleep

Oh and to the OP I have asked all my friends who went to see Eclipse and everyone was totally shit faced when they watched the trailer the tweens went insane and the twi-moms had heart attacks and strokes.

it would not surprise especially in fucking Texas where they said some complaints took place that they had a problem.

I cannot wait for this effing movie!!!

PS if the Dog dies im burning paramount down... Even worse? If that Dog gets possessed im through.
