Pasta: The World's Favourite Food

It takes too long to boil pasta and they don't make an automatic pasta cooker ...

I now eat brown rice almost daily because it is a slow energy burner and keep you full longer. :)

Why is brown rice more expansive than white rice?
I thought brown rice should be cheaper because of less process work.

Pasta is definitely one of my favorites to both eat and cook. :)

I hope you were joking. A few minutes is too long? It's laughable that people find cooking pasta to be rocket science.

Darlin', I don't know if you've noticed, but Telly has a notoriously short attention span.

Most pasta in America is unhealthy and made from refined flour. What kind of pasta do you eat? It may be good for your energy needs but is not for everyone.

Well, I do have industrial pasta made of refined flour sometimes but I have homemade more often. When I knead my own pasta I simply use other ingredients as well, don't really stop in making spagettis ;). I like cooking. What I make the most are ricotta or pumpkin gnoccis which are made with not much flour (picture 3 parts ricotta-2 flour for the first and 4 parts pumpkin- 1 flour for the latter). Other kinds of pasta I make quite often are filled ones like agnolottis which are discs of pasta dough filled with whatever you want (I tend to use ricotta and chard), canelonni which are rolled and even take far less flour or ocasionally lasagna. There's no need to consume insane ammounts of refined flour when having a pasta dish, a portion of two big caneloni might contain probably about a teaspoon of flour. Also, a pasta dish once in a while isn't hurtful or dangerous to health... I don't quite agree with that trend of scaring people off foods instead of thinking how to include them on a healthy diet in the best possible way.

But well, the fact that I do not consume much sugar at all (and not because I deem it healthy or unhealthy but just simply because I don't like it) does give pasta protagonism amongst my energy sources. But well, I don't eat it that often either... It's been more than two weeks since I last made agnolottis.

^Unfortunately, that's not how pasta is usually served in the US. We tend to serve a huge portion of spaghetti with a bit of sauce and a few meatballs, and that constitutes a meal.

bleh pasta.
I mean I'll eat it, it's food, but i don't often enjoy it.
Especially anything with red sauce on it >__< gross
And I'm mostly Italian haha

So, 17 countries also think something called "meat" is their second favorite food? How vague, and what an odd number to call "the world."

But more importantly, some of you are upsetting Marcella Hazan.

Please pass me some gnocchi, self-inflicted. Is it greedy of me to ask for a couple pumpkin and a couple ricotta?

I think the average person has pasta once a week, so if they balance it with healthier choices on the other days, it's no big deal. I hate it when the nutrition nazis get on their high horses.

This reminds me of the most delicious meal I ever had...lobster ravioli, served in Pigeon Forge, Tennesse no less. It was like dying and going to heaven.
