Pat Robertson Predicts 'Mass Killing'

By Associated Press

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - In what has become an annual tradition of prognostications, religious broadcaster Pat Robertson said Tuesday God has told him that a terrorist attack on the United States would result in "mass killing" late in 2007.

"I'm not necessarily saying it's going to be nuclear," he said during his news-and-talk television show "The 700 Club" on the Christian Broadcasting Network. "The Lord didn't say nuclear. But I do believe it will be something like that."

Robertson said God told him during a recent prayer retreat that major cities and possibly millions of people will be affected by the attack, which should take place sometime after September.

Robertson said God also told him that the U.S. only feigns friendship with Israel and that U.S. policies are pushing Israel toward "national suicide."
Robertson suggested in January 2006 that God punished then-Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon with a stroke for ceding Israeli-controlled land to the Palestinians.

The broadcaster predicted in January 2004 that President Bush would easily win re-election. Bush won 51 percent of the vote that fall, beating Democratic Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts.

In 2005, Robertson predicted that Bush would have victory after victory in his second term. He said Social Security reform proposals would be approved and Bush would nominate conservative judges to federal courts.

Lawmakers confirmed Bush's 2005 nominations of John Roberts and Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court. But the president's Social Security initiative was stalled.

"I have a relatively good track record," he said. "Sometimes I miss."

In May, Robertson said God told him that storms and possibly a tsunami were to crash into America's coastline in 2006. Even though the U.S. was not hit with a tsunami, Robertson on Tuesday cited last spring's heavy rains and flooding in New England as partly fulfilling the prediction.

Wasn't there a tsunami on the coast in the pacific northwest? Not devastating or anything, but I seem to remember one occurring last year.

If God is speaking to Pat Robertson and telling him whats going to happen ..... why isn't his track record perfect?

I must be missing something!

Even the Devil can quote scripture, eh Pat?

Republicans are proud to have him in their party? Notice how no JUBlican has denounced him.

Oh, if you don't want to read his quotes, basically it's the Liberals fault, gays, feminist, the media...:-({|= :-({|= :-({|=

10) "Over 100 years, I think the gradual erosion of the consensus that’s held our country together is probably more serious than a few bearded terrorists who fly into buildings." –Pat Robertson, on the dangers of judicial activism

9) "Lord, give us righteous judges who will not try to legislate and dominate this society. Take control, Lord! We ask for additional vacancies on the court." –Pat Robertson

8) "Just like what Nazi Germany did to the Jews, so liberal America is now doing to the evangelical Christians. It's no different. It is the same thing. It is happening all over again. It is the Democratic Congress, the liberal-based media and the homosexuals who want to destroy the Christians. Wholesale abuse and discrimination and the worst bigotry directed toward any group in America today. More terrible than anything suffered by any minority in history." –Pat Robertson

7) "I would warn Orlando that you're right in the way of some serious hurricanes, and I don't think I'd be waving those flags in God's face if I were you, This is not a message of hate -- this is a message of redemption. But a condition like this will bring about the destruction of your nation. It'll bring about terrorist bombs; it'll bring earthquakes, tornadoes, and possibly a meteor." –Pat Robertson, on "gay days" at Disneyworld

6) "(T)he feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians." –Pat Robertson

5) "I know this is painful for the ladies to hear, but if you get married, you have accepted the headship of a man, your husband. Christ is the head of the household and the husband is the head of the wife, and that's the way it is, period." –Pat Robertson

4) "I'd like to say to the good citizens of Dover: If there is a disaster in your area, don't turn to God, you just rejected him from your city. And don't wonder why he hasn't helped you when problems begin, if they begin. I'm not saying they will, but if they do, just remember, you just voted God out of your city. And if that's the case, don't ask for his help because he might not be there." --Pat Robertson, after the city of Dover, Pennsylvania voted to boot the current school board, which instituted an intelligent design policy that led to a federal trial

3) "God considers this land to be his. You read the Bible and he says 'This is my land,' and for any prime minister of Israel who decides he is going to carve it up and give it away, God says, 'No, this is mine.' ... He was dividing God's land. And I would say, 'Woe unto any prime minister of Israel who takes a similar course to appease the E.U., the United Nations, or the United States of America.' God says, 'This land belongs to me. You better leave it alone.'" --Pat Robertson, on why Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon suffered a massive stroke

2) "Maybe we need a very small nuke thrown off on Foggy Bottom to shake things up" –Pat Robertson, on nuking the State Department

1) "You know, I don't know about this doctrine of assassination, but if he thinks we're trying to assassinate him, I think that we really ought to go ahead and do it. It's a whole lot cheaper than starting a war ... We have the ability to take him out, and I think the time has come that we exercise that ability. We don't need another $200 billion war to get rid of one, you know, strong-arm dictator. It's a whole lot easier to have some of the covert operatives do the job and then get it over with." –Pat Robertson, calling for the assassination of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez

Bonus Stupid Quote:

"Wait a minute, I didn't say 'assassination.' I said our special forces should 'take him out,' and 'take him out' can be a number of things, including kidnapping." –Pat Robertson, clarifying his call to assassinate Hugo Chavez

Extra Bonus Stupid Quote:

"Is it right to call for assassination? No, and I apologize for that statement. I spoke in frustration that we should accommodate the man who thinks the U.S. is out to kill him." –Pat Robertson

Predictions are hard ......... if you're a Hemorrhoid. :help:

O.K. I denounce the creep. Now that I've denounced our nut-bag Rev., how bout you guys denounce yours...

"No one argues that Gore had an anti-gay record in the past. However, if it is true that he was allied with Fred Phelps as recently as 1997, then Al Gore's got a lot of explaining to do," said Rich Tafel, executive director of Log Cabin Republicans. "At this time the sources are themselves questionable, so the Vice President can end this mystery by denying any relationship with Phelps now. Most troubling is the charge that Al Gore invited Fred Phelps to his inaugurations as Vice President in 1993 and 1997. That was less than three years ago. We need some answers."

Fred Phelps, Jr. also ran for Governor of Kansas in the Democratic primary in 1990, winning over 11,000 votes and placing third.[/b]

Are we denouncing Gore or Phelps? I assume Gore because Phelps is a gimme.
Your source is Conservative News Net (I guess) so its credibility is in question ( Can you imagine all the howling from your side if I quoted Randi Rhodes as a source?) I know Gore and his nutty wife have a conservative streak but this story sounds like a lot of wishful thinking.

If God is speaking to Pat Robertson and telling him whats going to happen ..... why isn't his track record perfect?

I must be missing something!

You are missing nothing.

Actually, the Biblical standard for being a true prophet of God is perfection. If a man claims to speak for or from God and is wrong, he is to be considered a false prophet. Simple.

Why keep that close a track record of the things idiots say? The average public disregards these imbeciles both lefty and righty so why give it creedance?

From IC07's post:
In notation of First-order logic, the this type of fallacy can be expressed as (∃x∈S:φ(x))→ (∀x∈S:φ(x)), meaning "if there exists any x in the set S so that a property φ is true for x, then for all x in S the property φ must be true."
I'm impressed! All this time, I thought you Applebee Libertarians at table #7 were just there to diss the quality of the food and the minimum wage workers!

The next logical question is "Why doesn't Robertson understand this and shut the fuck up?"

The next logical question is "Why doesn't Robertson understand this and shut the fuck up?"

No, the next logical question is "Why does he still have a following?". His followers don't want to hear from God, they want to hear from Robertson.
As ICO7 said, it's about money. As long as it keeps coming in, he will not shut up and apparently, many of his flock are too stupid to recognize error and lies when they hear them.

What, and ruin a perfectly good retort?

Seriously, the boy scouts' history of homophobia and God-loving hatred runs in perfect parallel to Phelps's philosophy. Taking exception to that is disingenuous.
Um, all the Boy Scouts I hung with in my troop were gay...actually, I thiunk a huge number of Boy Scouts are pretty much gay. Which makes it all the more interesting about there policy.

Maybe Phelps is the classic closet case homo. He thinks he is free from it if he trys to destroy it?

I don't know why everyone is so skeptical of Robertson's assertions. God punished Adam and Eve for their consciousness, flooded the world, tormented Job, destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah(two of my favorite towns), pettily turned Lots wife to salt, sent his son to the cross for unknown reasons, and decreed the stoning of gays. God and Pat are two of a kind.

God, obviously, has a moral sense significantly inferior to most of the humans he created, no wonder he is pissed most of the time. Robertson and his ilk seem like the perfect company for God to keep, who else can God talk to, if God posted on JUB he would have more warning points than Alfie. God could never live up to the JUB Code of Conduct.

Don't expect God to lift a finger to prevent this disaster, like his buddy Pat, he seems to relish the blood of innocents; and whats a few more?

Still, if your reading this, God, please let the Eagles beat the shit out of the Giants on Sunday and I won't take your name in vain for month, maybe.

That the homophobic U.S. Boy Scouts won't allow gays and atheists to join, that gay and atheist scout leaders are kicked out, that the Boy Scouts reject gays and atheists though they accepted public money and that many historians say the movement's founder, Sir Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden-Powell, formed the scouts to recruit spies.

To instruct his poorly prepared and organized troops he wrote a military training manual called "Aids To Scouting for N.C.O.'s and Men" in 1899. It taught his troops how to scout, to track, stalk, spy and how to survive in the field. When he returned to England in 1903 he found that boys were using his military scouting manual for fun and games. In 1908 he rewrote his military scouting manual and called it "Scouting For Boys", which originally was issued in six booklets which were used to form the Boy Scouts.

I think you're engaging in another fallacy here; "spy" has two different meanings in your paragraph and in the quoted one. "Scout, track, stalk, spy" together indicate that the word is used as in the Old Testament, e.g. "spy out the land" -- in other words, move stealthily and gather information. It doesn't mean "spy" as in C.I.A.
