Eastman Kodak has announced that this Icon of our youth is being retired.

Kodachrome film represents less than 1% of Kodak's FILM sales, let alone the impact digital has had on traditional film sales.

GM and Chrysler go Chapter XI and reorganize, now this hallmark of our youth, is going away.

Share a "tontine" toast to all of the great memories this weekend when you're at your favorite watering hole with friends.

Hey, UKBrit - there's a crude attempt at your "Eye-con"in the above You Tube video.

This is ABC New's report.

Those of us who live in Kodak's home town have watched EK go from THE employer in Rochester, to 3rd place. We'll miss the little yellow box.

:cry::(

I've still got some in my refrigerator - but it's probably expired.
I have an Olympus OM-G 35 MM SLR, too.

Well its not called capitalism for nothing if you can't survive in a changing world with new products you should die and fade away...

OMG Kodachrome 64 is still the best positive film ever made..It beats the pants off all that C-41 process crap. I love shooting it. I am going to order a couple of cases for my freezer right now. Though lord knows who will be able to process it.

Not so fast.
Another small company has bought the rights to the formula of the film. And will be marketing the film and cameras as a retro item.

the fridge is a good place for film but the freezer is the best place as it stops aging.
I always liked using kodachrome as it always had great and true colors
I have a minotla xg570. still useit today for slides. Fujichrome is a close second

Here's a little 'blast from the past'. My roommate found this in the basement foundation a few years ago when he was repairing it. The box is still sealed. Note the 'Develop Before' date:

Apparently there is only one place in the USA that processes it still - Dwayne's Photo - somewhere in Kansas. Yet another American icon is gone.
