My Windows 10 laptop finally crashed a few days ago. My thanks to all my JUB friends for convincing me to back up my files!

Now please understand that I'm no computer dummy but I was not prepared for the issues I would face setting up my new Windows 11 pc.
"Username & Password" - over and over, again and again for Every site and account I needed to access, hampered by using my smartphone.

With no connected pc, my smartphone became my lifeline to setting up my new computer. Couldn't enter my passcodes fast enough on that tiny keypad.
I kept hitting two keys at once. Even Comcast Customer Service required me to sign-in on the website in order to get help via the phone!
The time to enter passcodes grew shorter the more sites I tried to access. Two-step authentication really tripped me up.

I'm back online for now but I will fight with Comcast Customer Service for changes to my service account. Stay Tuned.

Backups are required -

Since my last crash I signed up for an online back up that automatically backs everything up each day. I have not needed it yet - but the peace of mind is worth the money.

I Hear That!

Until I experienced a system crash I didn't anticipate my feeling so helpless. So much of everything I do is online.
All my retirement accounts and medical history are saved online. I usually file my income taxes in March every year (this should be fun this year).

From weather, to travel, to politics; online is how I stay connected.

And . . . how I get to relive the past - like the intro to Animaniacs in German!

I always just have the contents of my last drive transferred to the new laptop.

Easy peasy. No having to re-enter passwords or anything like that.

I'm sure I could have managed all this the easy way but I had issues with my internet service. During setup my Wi-fi kept cutting out. Comcast was no help except to scrap my old ISP plan and switch to a new plan with updated router plus access to a stronger signal that would stabilize my connection to the web.

Shaky internet signal, router issues, two-step authentication time-outs, McAfee security blocks at the worst time; I got the Full Treatment.

Next time, I know what to do.
