Do you like your peanut butter creamy, crunchy, freshly ground nothing added, or Peter Pan??? :)

I don't like peanut butter. I first tried it in January (this year) and thought it was disgusting.

what in the world is Peter Pan peanut butter??!?!? #-o

i usually get mine at whole foods. the kind you grind yourself. i prefer a bit chunkier but the texture of that one is fine.

I don't get fresh ground, but I do buy the kind that's made from peanuts and salt, with nothing else added. I prefer the creamy kind, and I usually eat it on whole wheat bread with apricot jam, though I'll occasionally buy blueberry or strawberry.

I can eat an entire jar with a spoon. Like mine st8 up.

My youngest brother was tragically killed when a jar of wholesome Smucker's Goober Grape with it's fresh roasted peanutty goodness and nutritious concord grape jelly slipped from a grocery store shelf and smacked him the the back of his young head.

No one ever suspected me... Not innocent all-American Joshy, and I never said a word, my mouth being crammed full of Goober Grape at the time of the unfortunate incident.

As you might imagine, the subject of peanut butter remains too painful to talk about to this very day.

This discussion would not be complete without ONE WORD:

Aflatoxin

THERE ARE NOW PLENTY OF MOTHERS WHO REFUSE TO LET THEIR CHILDREN ANYWYERE NEAR PEANUT BUTTER !!

Not to be confused with alpha toxin.

Chemical structure of aflatoxin B1Aflatoxins are naturally occurring mycotoxins that are produced by many species of Aspergillus, a fungus, most notably Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus parasiticus. Aflatoxins are toxic and among the most carcinogenic substances known.[1] After entering the body, aflatoxins are metabolized by the liver to a reactive intermediate, aflatoxin M1, an epoxide. Aflatoxin is frequently misspelled as "aflotoxin" and "alfatoxin", which could be confused with alpha toxin.

Poor joshy...(*8*)

I too lost a young brother...

He choked on a Hersey bar when he fell asleep in the bed next to mine...

Some might say it was JUSTICE because he had taken the last one, but not me, I loved him so.

I was very overcome at losing him...

I found that wailing at the funeral earned me tons of chocolate.

So, I guess it was not a total loss.

Joshy...Can I dip my chocolate bar in your peanut butter?

JIF, is my preference.

BTW, the jar of Smucker's Goober Grape is a perfect example of Americn laziness and the decline of our country. Who the fuck, that eats a PB&J sandwich, does not have time to open two jars. Unbelievable!

Creamy or crunchy.

We used to only have organic, fresh ground peanut butter and then one day, we thought 'WTF? This is like eating monkey shit.' and changed back to the unwholesome, sugary and salt charged chemical compound we loved in our youth.

Blasphemy ! [-X

It's the perfect example of American ingenuity.

'Decline of our country', indeed...

What is Peter Pan peanut butter?

It's a brand here in the states, along with Jif and Skippy. We always had Skippy growing up but they changed it. Now it's Jif all the way.

I love it crunchy! Gives it a very nice texture which lends itself to spreading it on multigrain bread (you know the kind with poppy, sunflower, sesame seeds etc in it...or maybe its just a UK thing.)

I can't handle the salt. Kraft used to make a salt free one but they stopped it now. Unsalted gives you a big peanut flavour. Freshly ground boosts that flavour even more!
