Pedro: The movie...

If ya wanna know about Pedro, buy Judd Winick's book. He wrote it from his heart and it tells the story far better than anything MTV could hope to produce.

Yes, it is mostly about their friendship. But there is a lot of Pedro's pre-RW backstory in there as well, which from what you've just said was lacking in the film.

And there's nothing wrong with cynicism. I'm a cynic myself. But from my cynical perspective, I trust Judd - who after all, no matter what else he is or what motives he had for writing the book, was Pedro's friend and who was actually there when he died - to tell the story far better than anything a bunch of disinterested MTV execs with an eye on the Nielsens could cook up.

I Thought the movie was pretty good. Could have been a little more realistic, but it was good.

I too thought that the movie could have been more detailed concerning Pedro's life and accomplishments instead of focusing on his "R.W." affiliation.

I missed the original airing of the R.W. S.F. except for a brief glimpse of the merger. I was soooo upset that I missed it. I finally got a chance to see that season just before the movie aired this week. Yeah, the movie didn't compare to the real Pedro, however, it didn't stop me from crying like a baby at the loss of such a beautiful individual (inside and out). He is missed.

Saw the flim not all that impressed. But always saw Pedro as hero.

Overall, I'd say it was pretty good. Yeah, there were things that could of been better. I too, would of liked to see more on his activism, etc. One thing I wonder, is if we actually saw the full movie? It had to be edited to air on television, certain things probably got cut to fit within the alloted time slot. The movie will be out on DVD on June 30th, I'm curious to see if that is any different.

I thought the scene in the park - where Pedro was jogging, and hooked up wif that guy - was hot.

Who is Pedro, and is my life diminished in any meaningful way by not knowing?

Pedro Zamora was an activist who for a short time in the early nineties was essentially the public face of AIDS, due in no small part to his appearance in the San Francisco season of MTV's The Real World. He died from a rare complication of the HIV virus five months after the show finished filming.

Whether or not your life was diminished by not knowing this is something only you can decide.

Did anyone watch the MTV film about Pedro?

I'm a little disappointed.

a. because the film depicted more accounts of his life on the "real world" as opposed to "in" the real world. In simplest terms, I felt it was more a piece about the significance of the real world TV show. It shouldn't come as a shock considering it was financed and filmed by the same producers of "the real world". It wasn't a coincidence that they had the film lead into the series finale and 'reunion' of the 21st Real world season.

It really didn't change my attitudes on the show - they select a bunch of whiny, trashy, egomaniacs to drudge up ratings.

b.Didn't represent everything accurately - I guess the made the artistic decision to portray his death differently. I'm little confused on why; maybe to protect the family - but its public knowledge they removed the feeding tube when Pedro became vegetative.

c. Didn't provide any interviews from the real people. I guess my problem is this: when they had the scenes with the actors in some mock interviews - couldn't they just provide the actual interviews with the real people they interviewed?

I got the movie via Netflix... I'd heard of Pedro before, never saw any of The Real World series...
I thought the movie was very heartbreaking.. I ended up in tears during it. Yeah, I cry easily.

It was very sad. Could be what the producers were going for. It was very emotional to me though.
I won't rent it again, just too hard to sit through sometihing showing the death of a handsome gay young man.

For my Spanish class, we had to choose and write about an interracial couple, one of whom was hispanic and the other from a different background. Me and my partner chose to do Pedro and his bf/partner, Sean. I did some research, saw the movie, and was pretty saddened by his life.

I too wanted to see more of his activism and how he changed people; the part where a young man tells Pedro he came out to his parents is nice but I wanted more. Still, I thought it was a decent movie. At least there is some sort of movie about him to inform people (like me) who don't know anything about him.

The guy from Napolean Dynamite that was running for school president? They made a movie about him???

I fine it to be a really good movie. If it wasnt too good I wouldnt never enjoy it nor cry because of it.

That movie got me crying, but I guess it's base on a true story.

I can really related to some of the things of his life with the santeria in the beach when he was in Cuba.
