Beloved Laverne & Shirley star Penny Marshall is battling for her life after being diagnosed with a brain tumor.
The Golden Globe-nominated Laverne and Shirley star was taken to a hospital last month after falling ill on a flight from Los Angeles to New York.
She assumed the illness was just a bout of influenza, but was left reeling when medics found two potentially cancerous tumors.

Let's hope they're wrong.

Penny Mashall was always kinda like my naughty older sister. Someone who enjoyed being just a little naughty and vindictive. Someone willing to take a chance.

Laverne was.. yes... a role model for Jasun.

When I first looked at this, you only had the national enquirer linked, or that's all that showed up for me.

Now I'm back to being sad again, as I was when I first read the thread title.
 
Awww! Laverne! :cry: Watching that show is among my earliest memories as a child. I hope she recovers but this sounds pretty serious.
 
All that milk and Pepsi catching up with her...

This is sad, I've always thought she had such a unique presence about her.

Plus, she did a fantastic job directing, "Big" and to a lesser extent "A League of Their Own".

Let's hope she can pull through this...

I was waiting for an official word - and I just found it:

AGENT: Penny Marshall "Fine," Not Battling Brain Tumor

NEW YORK, New York --
An agent for director Penny Marshall has denied a tabloid report that the star is sick with a brain tumor.

Earlier this week, the National Enquirer claimed the former “Laverne & Shirley” star had been diagnosed with a brain tumor and was “battling for her life.”

But it’s not true, according to Penny’s agent.

“She’s fine,” the agent told Access Hollywood.

Additionally, a source at the 66-year-old star’s production company said Penny is fine.

“I spoke to Penny yesterday,” the source said. “She is in New York. She is not in a hospital, she is not sick, she is doing well and is really great!”

The source added that Penny is expected at a game on Wednesday night in New York City, but could not confirm if it would be Game 6 of the World Series between the New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies.

Hmmm. I hope it's a rumor, but I never trust these denials. :?

Ned you have to remember thats put out by her agent. He is being paid to say what Penny wants him to say. I hope its not true but many many times the agents have denied reports of their clients being sick. Remember Farrah etc?
