Ahhhh!!! The good old '80s. The clothes certainly look "queer" by today's standards but have you had a look at the styles from the 60s and 70s? The '80s were a cool time. Great, great decade of music and dare I say fashion. I was a youth during that decade but am glad I experienced the era.

That weird fusion of punk,"Happy Days" and work out togs. "Is my sweatshirt torn correctly?"

Yuck...

Videos like that make me excited for the time when we all look back at the 90's and 2000's and go "HOLY SHIT WHY DID WE THINK THAT LOOKED GOOD?!" Which styles will go out and which ones will stick around?

all I can say is the inital post said that he heard it from his aunt. My god, now I feel OLD! And I'm only 27!

Me too and I'm only 24. That wasn't so long ago. Unfortunately, 80's fashion is coming back. I'm seeing a lot of pastel hoop earrings around.

I was trying to think of what the 90's would stand for, pop-culturally speaking, in the years to come, but I couldn't come up with much. There was the Internet, grunge music, boy bands, Seinfeld, and... not much else. Can anybody else fill in the blanks?

Well....that was just a video...most people did not dress by mixing the bright colors. I don't even think that was a popular song. I remember mother's crying because their daughters would dress in all white and wear their underwear on the outside...the way Madonna did. They were afraid that they would be raped by dressing that way.

I also remember the preppy look being in. Penney loafers, members only jackets, izod pollo shirts and shorts, etc.

The goth, punk, and heavy metal look was also in.

And then flash dance brought the leg warmers in for women.

And then after that, I think that it was surf wear.

ok, i'm only 23 and i remember people dressing like that when i was young... thanx mattiemich, you've succeeded in making all of the 20something year olds in the forum feel really really old... lol

Hey!

What's wrong with the way these people dress?

It was NOT that long ago that we all dressed in those fashions! lol

I guess you don't like the pastel sweater with the pastel shirt the guy is wearing???

I think he's adorable!(*8*) (*8*)

thanx mattie im old now and im only 25. but yes ppl some ppl dressed like that in teh 80s. it rocked back tehn everything was all cools

but u got to be born IMO like 88 or before to truly be an 80s person, u dont really appreciate teh 80s if u were born when only like 2 years left in the decade. and i miss those days
