Its sad that people do that, when I see an animal dying because of abandonment it makes me want to kick the owner's ass who abandoned them on the streets.

You see here's the problem i have, i have "abandoned" a few cats before, but you have to remember i found them on the street to begin with.

I had one cat in particular that i found and she didn't seem to be missing out on any meals.
But after the third screen window she fucked up, she had to go back into her natural habitat. I have no doubt in my mind she doing a hell of a lot better than she did when i had her.
So far every cat I've had has been real ghetto, they were very independent.

But the question i have for you is, why didn't you go out of your way and take the cat into your home and raise it ?

I think it's a broader problem of someone abandoning a helpless being.

Humans, I can understand, but animals are too cute and furry to leave out in the cold.

I totally agree with you. We have had problems with neighbors losing their animals, and living surrounded by the forest, it is really not a good thing because there are pleanty of animals that that eat them (bears, coyotees, etc.). Thankfully, most of the owners work very hard to find them. I can't tell you how many cats have been eaten. I have one neighbor that lost all 3 of her cats within the first month of moving in. She did not realize that her pets would be eaten.

We have this one new neighbor that actually let their two dogs run loose on purpose and they did not want them back. The neighbors that took them in were told that they could keep them and even have the papers for them. He said that he paid over $1200 for each of them. So bizarre. The whole neighborhood thinks they must be sick in the head to do something like that. Their daughter is heart broken. They told the kids that they are gone.

Our family took in two cats from the streets of Camden, NJ
We took them to the vets had their shots and a complete checkup they both were neutered.

We kept them until they died of old age.

I detest those who abandon animals in the street

Both of my dogs are rescues. One was locked inside a crate and left on the side of the road in the middle of a storm. The other was simply dumped. The f'ing bastards.

My dogs had a rough life. But now they're loved. They're happy and healthy and that's all that matters to me.

They disgust me. One of my dogs was abandoned and when we found her had obviously suffered and was mistreated. The love that she has given back over the 9 years since can not be measured.

These people would be one of the lowest life forms imaginable. Along with people who hit their animals. :(

Shoot the Bastards.

Hear Hear!

If there's one type of people I absolutly can not stand...

Oh wait, there's a lot of people I absolutly can not stand....

But people who are cruel towards animals are one of them!

So, what kind of kittie was it?

while you may think it's ok to let the cat "lose" again, as a biologist i must at least say that cats and dogs are not "wild" or "natural" animals. they were bread from natural animals but they should NOT ever be let loose. If you don't have the means to take care of them then take them to the human society NEVER let them "free." Feral cats kill hundreds of millions of wild birds per year in the US alone. Birds in the US are not equiped to deal with cats. Bobcats and lynx and moutain lions are totally different from feral cats. birds here did not evolve with this type of preditor and are not well equiped to deal with it. That's not to mention the other millions of native species we have that are impacted by feral cats/dogs.

AARRGGHH!!!!

Why Oh why do people treat animals with such hate???

What ever did animals do to deserve being abused, hurt, mutilated, etc???

I canNOT help but cry when I see articles in the paper or on TV where animals have been abused, it hurts me so much that I can hardly stand it!

Surely we must have some way of getting it across to these mindless fucks that they are hurting a living being that has feelings!

Please DON"T hurt animals, if you don't want them, take them to the humane shelters near you!!

Please?(*8*) (*8*)

The cat that we have now was originally found by my sister as a kitten on the street just by where she used to live. She took her in and fed her and the cat becamse a part of her family and then all of sudden, when my sister fell pregnant, suddenly the thought of looking after a cat and taking care of a child at the same time is too much for her so she got rid of the cat! I was glad to take her in as she is the most well behaved, more well mannered than her previous owners and so sweet too. I can never understand how they could have got rid of her but at least she's gone to a good home.

Chas007, my friend adopted a dog that came from Camden and she is the sweetest thing but she obviously has a thing with guns..Anytime there is an object in my hand that looks like a gun she winces and moves off!

I work at a Pet Store, and that's where the Cat was found around. I can't take any Cats in although I'd love to.

While your concern for abandoned critters is admirable, and I too condemn needless cruelty to animals, the pet trade, from which you make your living, is responsible for a huge amount of animal cruelty.

If pet stores were a little more choosy in who they sold animals to in the first place, maybe not so many would be abandoned by the jerks who bought them.

I don't doubt that you do take good care of the animals you sell.

My point is that a lot of the pet trade does, by its nature, involves cruelty. Not necessarily deliberate, malicious crulety, but cruelty all the same.

Keeping birds, mice, hamsters etc in cages is cruel.

Its a bit like an arms dealer complaining that his customers are shooting people. (only a bit)

Interestingly enough, I find that as I get older, I'd much rather spend time with my two cats than my co-workers. Maybe I should work from home. I love those 2 cats and can't stand people abusing animals. I could never imagine hurting them or putting them in harm's way. Never in a million years would I abandon them. The guilt would kill me.

i see your point. it's true keeping animals in cages isn't fair. especially the poor beta fish that is doomed to die. they are so often kept in those tiny bowls without heaters. betas are tropical fish and they need their water to be warm. also just becasue they can survive in a small stagnant bowl of water doesn't mean that is where they should be kept. i hate the sale of betas and it infuriates me every time i see them at the store.
